I use the Gallery as a download manager, it works better than the other download managers out there.

Maybe turn the Gallery into a Content manager instead? Or just give it a new name, it truely is more than a Media Gallery these days :P

I have all my downloads on there, and image archives. If anything, it would be nice th have a password feature, and maybe a option to allow user albums to be put in a general album or something.

That being said i would really like to see the gallery system being intergrated into ultimate profile mod to replace the albums displayed there, since they are no use with this mod installed!

Anyway, what's new in 2.0.4, is it worth the hassle of an update?

@Harvester> I googled the error, found some explanation, fired up my old Flash environment (which I'd zipped, deleted and lost somewhere on a dusty DVDR -- one hour to find it), fixed the supposed error and recompiled.

Please tell me if this version of player.swf fixes your problem. You need to upload it in your theme's mgallery folder, of course.
If it doesn't work, please post the URL of an item page that shows the error.
If it works, make sure to share the love... :P (Otherwise I'm not putting the fixed file in the package.)

@micropitt> I believe it's a Flash version issue. Try downgrading or upgrading your Flash component. (TomW, if you're reading this-- can you confirm?)

@micropitt²> The 'average user' doesn't use a Mac anyway. They use Windows XP, Internet Explorer 6 and wouldn't actually know whether the search engine they're using is called 'Google' or 'Bing'. They don't know what a search engine is, anyway.

@SK> Works better than download managers? Lol... Mission accomplished then :D Seriously, I've never really seen SMG as a download manager. Can you point out features I could add to it so that it can be even better in that respect?
As for the new name -- if you didn't read my posts in the last few weeks, let me tell you that I'm working on that right now. The next version of SMG will be called Aeva Media (without the 'Gallery'), and will completely integrate Aeva and add lots of new features (which I have yet to add of course, but don't interrupt me :P). One of the reasons being that I precisely wanted to get further away from the idea that's it's 'just a picture gallery'. It's multiMEDIA!

Re: ultimate profile -- just disable the profile pictures. It's a good little gallery system if people don't want to use SMG. Why should I force them? Heck, I used U.P.'s profile pictures before I jumped to SMG. If you're talking about integrating pictures directly into the profile page (not as a menu entry in the profile menu), it's not that hard. There are several scripts to do that at smf-media I think. I made my own, not sure whether I published it or not. Anyway!

v2.0.4 isn't worth the update if you don't have any problems with v2.0.3. But reading my changelogs every time I post them is worth the hassle..... Because you wouldn't have to ask, then  O:)
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

I think you misunderstood me or I did not explain clear enough. My post was regarding to the suggestion using FTP for mass upload. The average user on the board does not have the option to use FTP for mass uploading pictures. I do know that the average user does not use a Mac  ;)

Yes, and I said: since the average user doesn't use a Mac, then they won't have any trouble mass-uploading to your gallery, will they?
And even then-- other Mac users won't have any trouble either. It depends on a specific set of programs installed. I don't know which, and I don't care. If you desperately want to mass upload yourself, use FTP import, or use another computer, or fix your machine so that Flash works on it.

Happy Thanksgiving to you too.

I don't think they celebrate Thanksgiving in France since it was instituted by George Washington in 1789   :)

Oh, just go away. I tried giving you a realistic answer. What do you want? A refund? You didn't pay anything and you're wasting my time.

Just because something is in the US culture doesn't mean everyone in the world has to celebrate it. Do you celebrate July 14?

Certainly, Your Majesty. Certainly.  ::)

lol... actually, yes...   my friends and I DO celebrate Bastille Day (and Guy Fawlkes day as well) even though we are in the US.

oh... and while we're off topic...  Tiribulus, the national holiday of thanksgiving may have been added by George Washington... but Thanksgiving really does date back to the Plimouth with the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag Native Americans.

N.E.Media

Where is this "php.ini" file located?

I need to increase max file upload size.

A search of this very long thread yielded one result - which gave no answer.

Thanks!

php.ini lives in the webserver configuration itself, unless you're on a VPS or dedicated server you won't be able to change it.

In which case, run phpinfo() (see What is a phpinfo() file? for more) and the location of php.ini will be listed. You'll likely have to restart the Apache process after though.

I guess it's a problem with your custom theme. It doesn't correctly support very large resolutions.
I run on 1280x1024 and have no problems with your site myself.

It happens on certain pages, even in default theme, on any resolutions.

'title' => $txt['mgallery_gallery'] ,
I successfully removed the number associated with the button title you cite here, although the text you cite was not the problem.  I was able to establish that this line was the problem:

Quote'title' => $txt['mgallery_gallery'] . (empty($user_info['mgal_unseen']) || $user_info['mgal_unseen'] == -1 ? '' :

Changing this line to
Quote'title' => $txt['mgallery_gallery'] . (empty($user_info['-']) || $user_info['-'] == -1 ? '' :
got the job done. It was the variable 'mgal_unseen' that caused the problem.
