Make sure the MGallery-getid3 folder is correctly copied into your Sources folder. Especially the file getid3.php!

Yep, all perfectly there. Still the problem stays. Want me to overwrite it and check? (It was a upgrade by uninstalling old version and uploading new one)

Knock!

Could support for displaying SWF files be added? It might be a security risk, so it'd need options to dis/allow based on membergroup or user. Thanks!

Nao 尚

@flamer> yes.
@cron> it's already there... Just use Aeva 7.0 along with it, and set up SWF perms in Aeva.
Also, it's interesting to raise the issue of permissions for Aeva. Since I'll be adding them eventually (now that it's merged with SMG):

- the first thing that comes to mind is to have a permission to enable embedding for a user group.
- but then -- it should be the other way around: enable a user group to offer embedded videos to everyone else.
- in terms of security: the first solution doesn't do much. The second one allows you to make sure videos posted by guests won't be embedded for anyone (including them, of course.)
At that point, I don't exactly know whether it's best to have both permissions types or just the second one. As for implementing it, hmm... Not sure yet. Because it would be a first to actually retrieve a remote member's permissions before you show their stuff to the current visitor. Usually we'd use the current visitor's permissions -- which are conveniently stored in memory at that point, unlike the remote member's.
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

@Nao
A thing to note, I have set the max server upload limit to 250MB but the album within the user album shows this:

Maximum File Size Allowed: Image Files - 1024 KB, Video Files - 1024 KB, Audio Files - 1024 KB, Documents - 1024 KB

--------------------

If it is a public album, it also shows this:
Maximum File Size Allowed: Image Files - 1024 KB, Video Files - 1024 KB, Audio Files - 1024 KB, Documents - 1024 KB

BUT, it does allow big files in public folder and both the private albums.

- My problem is resolved by replacing the files with fresh once, i think the upgrade didn't work as expected.

Nao 尚

When you say big files, you mean files bigger than 1024KB, right? And these files are pictures? If yes, that's normal -- the quota for pictures is different compared to the other media types -- if picture is bigger than allowed quota, SMG tries to recompress it to a better ratio. Same if it's wider or taller than the max allowed size. It'll be resized. If the resized/recompressed pic fits the current quota settings, it is saved. This was made to avoid storing JPG files that are not correctly optimized.

Are you sure the quotas don't work for you, btw?

I am able to upload 31MB video file on the gallery with the basic setting of 250MB as file max upload as a regular member. In the quota settings for a regular member are: Maximum File Size Allowed: Image Files - 1024 KB, Video Files - 1024 KB, Audio Files - 1024 KB, Documents - 1024 KB

Another thing, How may I have the albums NOT to be shared with anyone else except the person who uploads at the first place?

Like I don't want "Guests" and "Regular Members" to have the ticks by default when you create an album. (This option is under

Privacy

Membergroups
The following membergroups will be allowed to view the album and its contents. If the "Regular members" group is checked, all board members will be able to view it, so you don't need to check other groups (except for Guests).

Nao, this is another great mod you are working on and it ROCKS! one question tough:

If I want a non-administrator to administrate the SMG, how can I do that? From what I see... I can't. If i give permission to administrate SMF from membergroups permision, he can see the button, but when clicked it says that he isn't allowed in there (it's normal, because the link goes to action=admin;area=mgallery, and he's not an administrator so bang). But I think this is a flow, why should I have to give a member the rights to administrate all the basic functionality of the forum before he can access the admin area of SMG? :o why don't you make the admin area a separate one, wich  is set trough smg admin area, not in permissions from admin (or to work only if it is both check - allow smg admin ), and in the admin - configuration, just a link to the SMG admin area?
Hope you understand what is my question :)

Nao 尚

Flamer, I'll have a serious look. I remember testing when Dragooon and I wrote the feature. It worked. Maybe I broke it inadvertently recently by changing something in the same area.

shumilica, can they at least use the Moderation panel? (It's not in the admin area...)
Also, on my site, users don't have the right to administrate anything, but they certainly do have access to their board control panel which is in the Admin area (unrelated to SMG, but it still works). Also, I don't remember anything telling me about this before?

Yes, they have the permission to access moderation area but still they can't go to the SMG Admin.
So you are saying that it works for you? The users can access the SMG Admin area without being able to see the Administration panel? Or it's working only to those who have acces to administration the boards of the forum? Because even if I give my users the access to administrate boards, they can't enter SMG Admin. The only permission that will give them access to SMG Admin, is the permission 'Administrate forum and database'. Any other admin-related permission will not work.

You are asking why nobody asked this before? Maybe because they wanted to be the only ones to make the public albums.

Hello,

This is a great mod!  I was wondering if there is a way that guest can view but not play or see any pictures or links to embed?

AndreT

Hello!

I don't know what's the problem but I recently upgraded to SMG 2.0.5 (from SMG 2.0.4) and when multiuploading, the thumbnails show me with a "Sorry, you are not allowed to view this file. Make sure you are connected to the server" message as in this picture:

And when I press "Submit" I get this XML parse error:

Of course the message is in my native language:
QuoteXML-i parsimise viga: rämps peale dokumendi elementi (junk after document element)
Asukoht: http://forum.sf-sf.net/index.php?action=mgallery;sa=mass;album=4;xml;upcook=YTo0OntpOjA7czoxOiIxIjtpOjE7czo0MDoiN2NmMGIxYjNhMGI2YzVjMjEzOTE1N2FhZGY5Yzg4NjQ3N2NmZmVhZCI7aToyO2k6MTQ0OTgzMjg3ODtpOjM7aTowO30%3D
Rida number 12, veerg 2:   <div class="centertext"><a href="javascript:history.go(-1)">Back</a></div>

I'm really looking for assistance on this.

I had a issue like this go into your admin setting and make sure you have full permission.

I'm the board administrator (owner admin group) which means I have all permissions. I can't change the gallery permissions for my usergroup. But can you be more specific about which permission(s) do you mean and how to access them using RC2?

Nao 尚

@dkharp> Be more specific. Change permission profiles in the SMG admin area.
@shumilica> I have seen other people give SMG administration rights to other membergroups, believe me. I've even used such accounts in the past.
Okay, I just tested on my test account, attributed it a special membergroup with admin rights -- and guess what, the admin button did lead me to the admin area and showed me the Aeva Media menu. So I guess it's really just on your site... :-/

In your test did you atribute a special membgroup that has admin rights for SMG, not for the whole forum, yes? Is your test forum a SMF2 RC2?

Yes to your question.
SMF2 RC2, rev 9500 (noisen.com). The latest in svn is rev 9508 FYI. It's basically a pre-RC3.

Are you bragging? :))
I'll try on a fresh instalation of a forum, if it still doesn't work it means that it's not the software it's the user :O

You see my badge? I'm supposed to be up to date. If I don't have the latest version installed, I'm actually not doing my work correctly ;)

Ok, installed a test forum from scrath, installed SMG, created a membegroup with all the SMG permissions ON plus the permission to moderate the board and to administrate the news (so that he can see the admin area), it doesn't give an error, but it just goes to the admin area - main - administration center, and I can see only the first item from the admin menu (Main). Even if I give any other admin permission besides the 'Administrate forum and database' they can't acces the SMG Admin area (but they can manage boards, manage members, manage attachments and smileys etc.). This is the same behaviour as on my actual forum (or the other test forum). Actually i gave the membergroup every bit of permission besides 'Administrate forum and database' and it still doesn't work.

Are you sure you don't give the users who access the admin area this permission 'Administrate forum and database'?

Can you describe if your steps are different, when you tested on your test forum?
