NAS, according to another thread I started in Mod requests, is there a way to require a membergroup selection upon registration?

Maybe like this (in the admin):

(x) No Membergroup Upon Registration (default)
( ) Manditory Membergroup Specified Upon Registration [drop down of membergroups]
( ) Manditory Membergroup Selection Upon Registration
[ ] checkboxes
[ ] for
[ ] each
[ ] group
[ ] admin
[ ] wants
[ ] to
[ ] allow
[ ] a
[ ] selection
[ ] of

That's an idea. I might look into it at some point. However, that'll be after my current projects are finished

When I have this mod activated (2RC2) the registrant gets the following error:

"Database Error
Please try again. If you come back to this error screen, report the error to an administrator."
and no new registrations are possible.

The SMF error log then shows the following:
Database Error: Column 'id_group' specified twice
File: /.../Sources/Subs-Members.php
Line: 785

Now I went into the database and checked the following: id_group is there, the default group is a valid one. I tried different default groups - same thing.

I checked subs-members.php and it is identical to one that is working fine on another board with this mod installed.

Could anybody help?

B.

Does it work with SMF 2.0 RC3?

It might do, but please be patient for mod authors to update; you need to remember that they're real people with real lives and updating mods is not always their first priority ;)

Confirmed to be working on RC3 without edits...

Can someone please tell me how to get a membergroup ID on a custom theme? I'm using RC3 by the way.

PenelopeQ

I am using RC3.

I want to have new members receive a 1-week trial membership to my subscription service--limited features.

The subscription is set-up in the subcritption function to end after a week, but will the mod follow void the expiration and keep members in the trial group?

Also, how do I activate it. I've already installed it, but where do I go in the menu list to set it up?

Thanks

KensonPlays

I would like this as well!

Can someone tell me how to activate the mod?

I've installed it from the packages menu, but now what?

I think I figured it out.

That screen shot I just posted had the answer. There is a box for the default membergroup in the Registration Settings.

I will look it over now and ask more questions as they come up.

PenelopeQ

Sorry to ask again so quickly, but I've got a new question.

I have a custom membergroup I want new members to default into. But what is the ID? The image implies this is a numerical identicification, but the membergroups in my list have no assigned numbers that I can see.

Also, the sample image shows immediate registration selected. Is this a requirement? I have mine set to email activation.

Spoogs

yoursite/index.php?action=admin;area=membergroups
click on an membergroup... look in your browser address bar and the link should end with group=# <--membergroup number

Immediate registration is not a requirement.
