Oh my gosh ... Why did you put all those configuration settings at the top of the chat box! Oh please, please put all that stuff on a configuration page under "Modifications"!

Also, can you please tell me how to remove that entire Horizontal Admin help bar? It's taking up too much room vertically. It would be better if all that configuration and help was placed under Admin - Configuration - Modification Settings - that's really where it's supposed to go.

Thanks for your work on improving this mod.

Oops - found another small bug.

When "Last line on top" is selected, and a new Shout is made, all the existing shouts automatically move down and you can see the new shout.

But, if "First line on top" is selected, and a new shout is entered, the existing shouts do not automatically move up. You need to move the scroll bar at the right to see the new shouts. This should be corrected so the new shouts move up automatically, like they do when "Last line on top" is selected.

1 To let it on the Modification Settings it will take more time! The thing is I quite of busy so I choose this way.
2 There is a point for that, for some setting the admin can edit the setting and see the changes immediately, but it really a mess so 3 show you how to hide it.
3 See http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=429695.msg3077644#msg3077644
Just you, an Admin can see the setting area so I do not thing it taking to much room.

I sure that there is a message that say you should reload the page to take effect for this setting!

Yes, I know how to hide the settings box, but I don't even want to see the Admin help bar - it doesn't belong there, it belongs in the Mod configuration area.

If it takes too much time for you at the moment then so be it, but it still needs to be located in the proper area. I appreciate your efforts on the mod, but It takes up more space than the previous version and it doesn't look as good on my forum. I hope you can find the time later to move it all to the proper area. I don't even want the single Admin help line there, It's taking up vertical space that I don't want to lose. To compensate for the loss of vertical space by that Admin help bar, how could the "Save" button be moved to the front of the text entry box, making them both on the same line? That would save vertical space. How could I do that?

Well, I do think it's a bug, I've used other shout boxes that put the newest shouts on the bottom and they scroll up automatically. Your shout box scrolls them all down automatically when the Last line on top mode is selected, but it doesn't scroll them up automatically when first line on top is selected. That's a bug in my book. I don't mean to seem unappreciative of your work, but a bug is a bug.

There is no message telling you to reload the page ... Have you tried it yourself? Anyway - reloading the page doesn't fix the bug. I'm not even sure exactly what it is you are trying to tell me here. I'm not saying the first line on top mode is not working at all, I'm saying it doesn't automatically scroll the responses upwards like it should. You should not have to move the scroll bar every time a new shout is entered in this mode. Do you understand what I'm telling you? Do I need to explain it better? I don't want to use that mode if all my members have to scroll the shout box responses up every time they enter a new shout.

Maybe I'd better make another post with a picture of what is going on.

maybe I will moe the admin setting area to the right way but not right now, maybe it look ugly, but just only you can see it not your member! And...
1. what is the Admin help bar  you are talking about?
2. If you do not like Admin message line, open NChatBoardIndex.php
FInd and remove:
<div class="title_barIC"><h4 class="titlebg">'.parse_bbc($NChat['admin_mess']).'</h4></div>
3. Try to download the mod agian, I not sure but I remember that I have upload the wrong file, after that (about 10 min) I have delete and upload the new one, so just download and try agian!

If there still the issue, so what is your Browser?
I have some test in:
Google Chrome 12.0.742.100 (windows 7 and Ubuntu 10.04)
FireFox 4.0.1 (windows 7) 3.5 (ubuntu 10.04)
Internet Explorer 9 (windows 7)

here I have a demo clip:

OK, the video helped break the language barrier. I now have the shouts scrolling properly.

Thanks again.

Okay - I tested it on my testboard - nice... - and easy... - thx for that.

uhm, I won't talk again about layout - I know, only the admin sees that setting area... - I don't care... I use another NChatBoardindex.php (thx tomas1 ) and that is fine...

If there is need to modify the settings, it easy to rename and (re-rename) that file via ftp....

one question - don't know if this is asked before - I miss the collapse/expand button to this chat like every board/category has it....

It's ok now, nice solution. ty!
What about time? You can make options "show time" and "time format". Using $context['current_time'] for base ofc...

Also making nicks clickable for fast reply
The time format is your forum time format!
Thanks for your suggestion I will add these future for the next version of this Mod

I mean to make option to reformat time format in chat :) I hardcoded your chat in my own format - just time [XX:XX]Nick:message, coz my forum time format is too long [Month 18, 2011, 11:01:36] and users with low resolution and small monitors making me crazy :)

Tatts just what I need, can you explain how you have managed that? Chat is GREAT, thats only thing i want to change, through this topic you all have solved prety all :)

These steps will help you do it (it may take you ONE LONG NIGHT to .............sleep well with pleasure :D)
For example, open the NChatHandle.php, find:
$NChatInfo['time']      = $context['current_time'];
replace with:
$NChatInfo['time']      = date("H:i");

The time is now (Hour 00 - 23 : minute  00 - 59)
for more format see : http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.date.php

Before installing it, i have some questions...
Can you edit the permissions for each membergroup? Like can i block regular members to see it or maybe open to see but no access to write?
Which translations you have so far? I can help you with Turkish translation if i end up installing it.

This mod does not have the permissions for each membergroup, just 2 option (read-only or disable) for guest!
For now I just have only English, I really appreciate if you help me with Turkish

Is it possible to put the configuration options in the Admin pages somewhere?  I like the mod, but having to stare at all of those configuration options are making me want to disable it.  I apologize if there is a way to hide them that I'm not seeing.

Just simple open the NChatBoardIndex.php
Find:
if($NChatInfo['admin'] == true)
Replace with:
if(false)

When you want to modify some thing, just visit: your-domain.com/forum/NChat/index.php

i have changed that setting but still showing admin help messenge in please help me how to remove that option
here is my nchatbordindex.php file

Put all the texts that needs to be translated and i will help you if they are not so much.

Do you think you can add permissions for each membergroup to see/read only/participate?

I think it would be lot better to have an option of writing color of each membergroup set to their own membergroup color. Like admin is gonna write in red etc. I am waiting for the update to install it to my forum. Let me know what other translations you need with the update.
