Martine:
Thank you!  I finally begun work on 2.0 support yesterday and it's coming along.

CatfishEd:
Yikes, sorry that manual fix didn't work for you.   Please be patient as I work on 1.6.

I'm looking forward to a version for SMF 2.0.

peoplesignDave: Is there any way you could add PeopleSign to the post screen for guests (optionally), instead of just the registration screen in any upcoming version as I mentioned earlier? It would be very useful, as guest posting is a huge culprit for spam and I really don't want to disable guest posting either.

peoplesignDave

Good call Daniel. This feature is targeted for the upcoming release. (I'm working on it right now, actually)

Daniel Hofverberg

That's great.

Is there any way to add more languages to the PeopleSign interface itself (I e the "Choose the best match for picture" text and similar messages)? Those aren't included in the language file modifications, and for the mod to be really useful to me I would really like to have those messages in Swedish. I can of course provide the translation of everything, if necessary.

peoplesignDave

Yes, you can definitely do that.  I'm glad you asked.

To change the messages in the Peoplesign UI go to http://peoplesign.com/main/customize.html [nofollow].  We offer preset translations for 20 languages and the ability to customize each message (e.g. "Choose the Best Match.." etc).

Our customization tool outputs a string that you can copy/paste into the Peoplesign section of the SMF admin.  No code changes are needed.

Thank you for offering to provide a Swedish translation:  we don't have one yet.  I will email you a list of the messages so we don't clutter this thread.

peoplesignDave

Finally, the code for compatibility with SMF 2.0 is complete! For 2.0 forums, we will support protection for guest posting, guest search and guest report posts in addition to registration.

There is one cosmetic issue that I need to fix before releasing, and I also must retest support for 1.1.x forums.  I must sleep now but anticipate a release within 24 hours.

Martine M

Thank you Dave, you get some rest you did a great job already.
we will see it when it is ready.

Version 1.6 is here!

Changes:

  • added support for SMF 2.0
  • fixed another cause of annoying (but harmless) error log messages

peoplesignDave

Also, thanks to Daniel Hofverberg for providing a Swedish translation for the Peoplesign challenge UI.  This translation and 20 others can easily be applied on SMF or any of our other plugin platforms (Joomla, PHPBB, etc) using our innovative customization system [nofollow].

Thanks for your super fast action.

Please excuse my ignorance but do I uninstall and delete version 1.5 from my packages list and then install version 1.6 or do I leave version 1.5 and install version 1.6 as well? I looked around for any instructions on this but found none.

Thanks in advance for your patience with me. :)

You're welcome.  Your question is quite reasonable.  I recommend the following procedure to upgrade:

1) click 'Uninstall' next to version 1.5 in the package list
2) (Optional) 'Delete' 1.5 from the package list
3) Upload version 1.6, then click 'Apply Mod'

Let me know if you have any problems.

Martine M

Thank you very much Dave, I am going to install it today and let you know how it works.

I installed 6.0 as per your instructions on both of my forums about 3 hours ago and both forum error logs are still empty now. It's stopping the bot attacks cold and doing it without any errors.

Fantastic mod! Thanks for not only creating it but keeping it up to date as well. You really rock!

I'm starting to get several of these in my forum error log everyday:
8: Undefined index: registration_isDisabled
File: /home/catfish/public_html/forum/Sources/peoplesignClient.php
Line: 215

What's the deal?

I assume it's OK to bump this after about 40+ hours?

Sorry Ed, I'm in the process of moving.  I should have said something.  Can't get to this until next week.

Note to all:  the issue here is a harmless but unwanted error message in the log file.

Did you recently upgrade to a new version of php on your system?  Or maybe you changed the logging sensitivity?

Nope, I did neither one. I'm glad to hear it's harmless. Thanks for your response.

I'm getting the following error accessing our forum.

8: Use of undefined constant PEOPLESIGN_CHALLENGE_URL - assumed 'PEOPLESIGN_CHALLENGE_URL'
File: /www.{website]/smf/Themes/default/languages/index.english.php (eval?)
Line: 22Database Error: INSERT command denied to user '[user]'@'10.1.3.146' for table '[user]isessions'
File: /www.{website]/smf/Sources/Load.php
Line: 2027

Any ideas how I can  restore this without backing up as I don't have latest  database backup?
is there a way to disable the PEOPLESIGN  mod  from the database?

Best regards,
