RC1 should be out soon. Unfortunately I have not had as much time to work on it as I had hoped, but there isn't a lot left to do - just finish writing the upgrades and test things.

I've been really busy lately, but should have a lot more free time this week. I was off yesterday, I'm off today and I'm also off tomorrow. I'm going to try to work on it some more later today.

Hello guys

I have a small problem and I want your opinion.

You see, I run this site www.curefans.com, which is hosted in a company with an excellen support but they offer me only 750Mb space. In the other hand I have a personal domain, let's call it www.mydomain.com, hosted in another provider which offers me a LOT of space, but a poor support.

I want to keep running my forum in the first company, but since the members have started to upload hundreds of photos to the gallery, I am actually running of space.

It's possible to install the gallery in ANOTHER domain/host, then call it/embed it throught smf like till now?

If it's so, do I need to do a special configuration?

Thanks in advance.

No, that's not possible. SMF and Gallery2 both need to be on the same server.

Is this available for SMF 2.0 RC1.2 ?

Oldiesmann

The package for 2.0 RC1 will work on 2.0 RC1.2. However, you will need to use the emulate version feature to make it install. To do this, click the advanced link on the browse packages screen and enter 2.0 RC1 in the emulate version box. In addition, there are a few bugs in the package for 2.0 - one causing the lightbox bbcode to not work, one causing an extra "gallery image" button to show up on the main post form, and one causing a parse error in Display.template.php. I will post instructions for fixing these bugs on the project site when I get home from work in about 5 hours.

I just became aware of the bugs a few days ago and haven't had any complaints about it not installing on RC1.2 without the emulate version trick, so that's why I haven't fixed the issues yet.

I am also going to be working on an updated version soon, but will provide the ability to upgrade from the current version.

Decided to just upload a new package for 2.0 since the one bug prevented you from being able to view posts at all. Should install fine on 2.0 RC1.2 now as well. That version was already in the list, but I think the 2.0 RC1-1 version was messing it up.

Thanks - I went to the Gallery2 site and looked around.  It appears that Gallery2 is what I want to use.  One question - It appears that the image must already be in the gallery before I add it to a post.  Is there a way to upload the image to my gallery while creating a post ?

Oldiesmann

No, you have to upload it through the embedded gallery. Adding an interface to upload it directly to the gallery from your post would be fairly complicated.

Thanks for your responses so far.  I am going to switch to Gallery2 as soon as the mods that I am using on my site are compatible with SMF 2.0 RC2, which is hopefully sometime this year !

You're welcome. I hope to have SMF+G2 updated to work with 2.0 RC2 in the coming days :)

Hoodie

Any news on compatibility with RC2?

Oldiesmann

Hoping to have a version for SMF 2.0 RC2 either later tonight or sometime tomorrow. This will also be a new version with some bugfixes and improvements, so it's taking a bit longer to get it ready than it would if I just made an RC2-compatible version.

Hoodie

Thanks for the update and appreciate all the work you're doing to bridge the two together..  I posted a question on your project forum that hopefully you can answer..

Is there already a version for SMF 2.0 RC2?
The one for RC1 doesn't install...
