Where can I go to find step by step instructions on what I need to do to upgrade.  I am on a 1.0.5 forum now.  I read somewhere about putting forum into maintance mode, then backing everything up, then removing my mods, and finally putting the forum back to its default theme.  I have done all but put it back to the default theme and remove my mods so far.  Where do I put the upgrade file?  what else do I need to do and is what i stated so far correct?

So I do have to remove everyone of my mods?
And set it to default?

Then I just run the upgrade.php from my forum directory?  Simple as that? or am I missing something somewhere?

That would be safest, yes.

My chat mod or another chat mod?  If you're referring to mine, you can leave it installed even after the upgrade.

Removing All Mod, is safest way before Upgrading to RC2. This is useful for future Mod Installing. For example, if any new mod, and you wanna install it. As we already know, there are many mods outside. And sometimes between one to other mods use "same" search string while replacing code. And I believe, all "newbie" on SMF do click & try all mods :) And I believe, some mod (un-installing), leave the string/character. Just like Windows, registry file is bigger than before.
Its my personal experience..

Well, some expert person doesnt need un-installing this mod. They're already know and dont want to add any mod again.

i am using smf 1.0.5 and joomla bridge 3.19 a stable , i want to upgrade to SMF_1_RC2 , will it affect my bridge with joomla ?
Also which file i should use ?
this one ...
http://www.simplemachines.org/download.php/smf_1-1-rc2_install.zip

or

this one

xenovanis

You want the updatepackage, not the installpackage. There is a new bridge for RC2, check it out here:

The Hypr One

I found another bug.

When you try to ban a user by e-mail or hostname, those triggers will not add when checked. You have to go back and modify the ban via Add Trigger to get it working.

Heh, go figure, I just manually installed RC 1 a week ago :(

Just after updating smf froums from version smf1.0.5 to smf1.1 RC2 successfully , when i logged in as admin , i was presented with a lot of unread messages ! Those were the messages which i had already read . While updating i did'nt get any error message and everything worked smoothly !
so ? did i make anything wrong ?

khan

and even members of my forums complained that they are seeing older messages as NEW ONES i.e., "still unread" .  Although it seems not a severe problem but one has to sort the *real* unread messages from read messages. And if messages are huge than it will take a lot of time.
any suggestions to correct the problem ? ???

i think i could'nt explain my problem well, let me rephrase it.

Actually the problem is not with the PM ( Personal Messages ) , The problem is with "Unread Threads" i.e., the posts made by members , they are old and should not show themselves as "new posts".
