I have installed new themes, but am thinking this will work a little differently.

You can install these themes just like any other theme.

Help, not getting these to install right. I downloaded dl-green.zip... it's got style.css and theme_info.xml and an image folder.

What do I do next?

I also tried to make a copy of the default theme's entire directory, and overwrote the above files with the new ones from dl-green.zip, but it didn't work. I can't get the tabs to show up right. :(

Mystica

Go to your admin section -> Themes and Layout, at the bottom of the page it says "Install a New theme". Hit the "Browse" button there and select the .zip file on your computer. Then click the "Install!" button and it will install the theme automatically for you.

Hmm that's exactly what I did... it copied image folder, style.css and theme_info.xml into a new directory. Are there supposed to be more files from elsewhere?

I select the theme and it doesn't work right.  What am I missing?

This is on a Joomla-integrated SMF installation (local test server running JSAS 1.03)

Mystica

No, there shouldn't be any other themes. What do you mean with "it doesn't work"? Does it not install, not show up or are there images missing??

It installs ( I see a "Default Green Theme" ) but when I select the theme to use, it just doesn't show up "right".

There are images missing, and some of the fonts are the wrong color...

Actually there is no trace of green anywhere.  ::)

Hmm, just thought of something - maybe I have to *merge* the two CSS files (Joomla and SMF)... maybe I'll give that a go...

Hi Mystica,

Great Theme variations! Will be using a few to let members select.

To change the Theme, I went to Profile>Look and Layout Preference.
I clicked 'change' under... Current Theme: SMF Default Theme (change)
The next page did not list any of the variations Themes.
???

What to do? :(

Mystica

Make sure you have the themes installed and allow members to select themes.

A-Ha! figured it out... there was an extra "www" in the path to URL directory  :-[

Thanks for your help, Mystica.

Think I still have to merge my joomla/smf css files, but it's displaying properly now! :)

Hi Mystica,

Thanks for the fast reply. ;) The themes are successfully installed and I have set "Allow members to select their own themes." As I'm an Admin, I can change the themes without restriction.

Under my Profile I can see and change among "Forum or Board Default", SMF Default Theme, Classic YaBB SE Theme and Babylon Theme... but it does not show the new Variation themes.

What do you think?

fiver

Strange... I login as a normal member and I can see and change the Variation Themes in my Profile.

But when I login as admin I can't.  ???

Wonder if this themes is depend of language in use again?

Thanks..Mystica, great skins you have made, or color variations  :D

I think this collection (at last part of it) should be added in SMF package  ;)

i.e. some ligt blue themes could be added, mean blue in dif variations  ;D

fletch

I've installed the Red variation, but I'm not getting any change in the top panels and background. What have I missed???

hi
can someone please direct me as to why the new themes i install (the color variation ones) give me a horizontal scroll bar at the bottom?

what do I need to modify to fix it?

This problem dosent occur in the default or any other themes, only when I use any of the color variation ones this happens..
please help

Wolfenrook

I had a look Akulian and I had to seriously shrink the window in order to get a scroll bar at the bottom.  I know I use a resolution of 1280x1024 but I seriously reduced the size of the window in order to get a scroll bar at the bottom, and that's with the forum wrapped by MKPortal with both columns open.

My guess though would be that you need to change something in the CSS of the variation as apart from the graphics this is the only thing that is different to the default theme.
Thoughts are free, it's their consequences that often have a cost.
