It doesn't matter when you installed the language pack - just that you installed it, set it as the default language and updated all the user accounts to use that one instead of the regular russian.

Ah, alright.

We did install set the Russian UTF-8, set it as a default language, and deleted old Russian language files.

May I remind you that problem was in inability of users with cyrillic names to login. Language pack doesn't affect this process at all.

We have already found the bug. You can find its description and its patch here:

Ok, finally we've found a part of code, which is a 100% bug.

.................
I will remind you, that we had made upgrade our SMF database from cp1251_general_ci to utf8_general_ci.
How can I make this works for my case? as I have sometimes to make two tries before forum accepts my login! At first attempt, it says password incorrect, thought , it is the same at second attempt !!!
I converted my forum from cp1256 (arabic) to utf8
This was the encoding used by rhe browser
The encoding in mysql database was latin_swidish_ci
I am using SMF 2beta4 upgraded from SMF 1.16 converted from phpbb2 !!
Thanks

The topic has been moved to the "Fixed or Bogus Bugs" forum. What does that mean? I don't see here http://dev.simplemachines.org/mantis/view.php?id=2659 that the bug has beed fixed, so why has the topic been moved?  :-\

Hi. After upgrading (using upgrade script) from 2.0 beta 4 to RC1 I have a problem that each member of the forum cannot login.
Usually it takes 4-5 tries before password is accepted. Or at least 2. It just says password is incorrect.
Resetting password does not help too..
It appears on a cookie saving settings in firefox and in a firefox with 0 cookies too.

Regularexpression edit: Was titled: "I can't login to my forum after upgrading from beta 4 to 2.0 RC1"

Ok. I have:  Maintenance Mode: Value not found!  and  Queryless URLs: Value not found!
After repearing Maintenance Mode is still missing.

O. I set $maintenance = 0; And now I even have more problems:
First login fails.
Second login - message that only registered users can view this part of the forum.
Only on the 4th try it's ok...
Ok I log off. first login - wrong password. Second login is ok.

Same problem in 1.8.  I have to clear the cookies before my login is accepted.  Help please.

metallica48423

orchard_lincs, I doubt you're having the same problem.  Please start a new topic in SMF 1.x Support -- Thanks.

Jesaul, using repair_settings.php, did you set a value for the ones that were missing?  Is your Settings.php intact?
