Does anyone know why I get large core files *magically* appear on my forum root whenever I install this mod?

In that case I'll just go with the workaround that I found since it's working without needing to install mods or change posts.

The old tags pretty much worked like this:

And the video would be embedded. Proboards is a forum software.

If the old tags look like that, you can simply install Aeva Media and run the conversion script for old BBCodes which is provided in the package (inside the Zip, before installation.) After installing AM, videos will be embedded normally without any trouble. (I'm not sure "yt" tags are taken into account but if they aren't, you could run the script a second time and make sure you rename youtube to yt in the source file this time.)
Make a backup of your messages table before you run it, though. Better safe than sorry

I have decided to go Final today.

If you need any reasons:
- it's freakin' stable, oh my gosh. It would have gone RC weeks ago if I hadn't added so many features every time.
- it's more stable than SMG from my point of view, so there's no need to hold it back while SMG is out and 'public'...
- I still have a to-do-list with over 100 items. I always add them faster than I can implement them. Can't do that forever.
- Betas are for widely testing whether software works or not. Patches are for fixing minor issues that happen in exotic situations. The current state of Aeva Media is very much 'patch state'.
- And finally-- given that the SMF Team VS SMF Friends negotiations are stalling and the SMF Team doesn't seem very likely to open itself one day, I am slowly but surely losing interest in SMF itself. I need to get out of beta state, go final and take time to think about it all. I will postpone all the extra major features I was planning to add for 1.0 final. (Highslide slideshows and User panel.)

v1.0 coming later today.

Great news about going final, Nao. Sorry to hear about the problems behind the scenes though.

This is arguably the most ambitious mod ever produced and what's more it works! It's certainly one which grows on me and although I may not be using all of the facilities I know they're there if I need them plus it saves having to upload lots of third party software.

I'm really, really sad to hear this... I think that you really LOVE (or loved) SMF, all your work is an incredible prove.. and smf will surely die without people like you (many and many already left).

We need to do something NOW!

Also if Amy is completely innocent I think that now she has to step down for the good of the community. She's the cause of the "departure" of many and many devs/team members/friends... without her many of them will return..

Then, when the situation will be more stable, Amy can explain her position and there could be a debate, but only AFTER she steps down and new (private) elections will be done!!

As for Amy, I have mixed feelings. I'm ready to consider that she stays onboard, but it still won't bring the ex-team back, so for her to stay, she would need to accept these:
- Take another partner with her in the LLC. Someone who is trusted in both the current and ex team, as a proof of good faith.
- Allow for the ex-team, and only them, to fork the SMF2 project. Make sure that BOTH projects can take from each other's code at any time. Encourage competition between both sides.

I'm currently looking at what other software might 'need' Aeva Media. Wordpress seems to have media galleries already (Nextgen Gallery... Is it any good? Their feature list seems okay to me), so probably not that... Another forum software? I only like SMF. :-/ Then there's the new software at smf-friends.org, which may be launched if the fork idea is dropped. Unfortunately it will need a lot of work and time before it's usable, so I can't really port AM to it right now. And if I can't port it, I can't add features either.

I'm pretty much torn. Right now I feel like I'm going to stop working for the community altogether.

Hey what's up :-) Don't stop working - this community is good and the software too. The AEVA mod is the most installed/upgraded mod in my SMF board and i will miss the feeling waiting for the big crash after update :-) each time...

It's not 'crap', it's dead serious.
The SMF team should realize that SMF is not only THEM. It's also all of the mod developers.
If SMF isn't updated anymore, people will start converting to other software. And will stop using mods. So mod devs will also convert to other software.

I've been thinking this through, and I don't know how to act.

This is why I'm going Final on AM and taking time to think it over.
Would you rather see me entirely take down Aeva Media from the SM site, from the community? I own it, I can do whatever I want with it, whatever silly.

So call it bull-CRAP if you want, but don't forget that you're totally missing the point. I'm not here to ask Amy to resign. I'm here to say it's VERY hard to work in the current climate. I feel like I'm wasting my time.

Okay, was wondering.

Still, you decided to close the topic, so don't be surprised that people will want to discuss it elsewhere. It's not a trivial matter.
I mean, the Travails topic was the perfect place to have that talk. I never discussed the problems here before.

Apart from that -- case closed for me. It is now known that I have difficulty coping with the current situation, I don't need to discuss it for hours. It's not up to me.
