If I understand your suggestion correctly; you propose that instead of risking only the Aeva functionality, I should risk the functionality of the entire system,
Go ahead and don't use Aeva, then.
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

Should I take this to mean that you don't know why the 1.2 shows up in the control panel as being older than the 1.1b either ?

The only reason I asked in the first place is I thought there was a comment just after the release that someone had the problem and you had put a fix in place. I guess senile dementia is at my keyboard in that case.

Until someone figures out if this is in fact a problem with systems other than mine, and, if so, what the fix is I guess I am best served by sticking with the limited usability I currently get.

I've checked on my own installation and the "1.2 out of date! disappeared when Nao fixed it.

Is it possible, just possible, you have a double installation somewhere?

Does running full forum maintenance including clearing the cache make any difference?

Of course not. It just means I'm through with spoilt kids who want free software, and then can't accept a small quirk here and there. Especially one like that... I'm pretty sure you didn't even try refreshing your cache, did you?

As it happens I was working a different problem and was clearing my cache repeatedly when I decided to give 1.2 a try to see if it seemed to work better than 1.1b. So am pretty sure that was not an issue. But hard to make definite statements in retrospect so I will go take a look and see if the problem still exists, and if so, if clearing the cache fixes it.

I turn 68 in a few more months, so being called a spoiled kid kinda cheers me up.

Is there some reason that you don't want to discuss what the original issue that caused 1.2 being flagged as the older package?

I have played around in subs.php making some changes, and am pretty sure that a double installation would have shown up there, not to mention visible indications in my menu etc, so while it is difficult to prove a negative; I don't think I have a double installation.

Double installations can cause some weird effects, I was having problems with SMF Gallery pro upgrades, and it took VBgamer logging in as root to figure out what the cause was, and he told me it was a double installation from many Moons ago, several versions back in fact.

I tried clearing the cache, as well as running all of the maintenance routines with no effect on the "older version" problem as far as I can tell.

I was running 1.1b on another site and just for the S&G, I put 1.2 into the packages directory.

Deleted 1.1b (usual complaints and errors) installed 1.2 (usual complaints about subs.php), hand corrected the subs file and as far as I can tell it looks about the same as 1.1b.

Hard to say if it is working properly there, I only have it installed as a semi-test site for Aeva.  The gallery headers are still screwed up, if I have time I will create a couple of galleries and do some links to you tube to see if that clears it up on that site.

However my current problem on the first site still exists the 1.2 shows as older in the packages control panel.

Think it is time to move on to other stuff

Some videos from Youtube recently refuse to embed automatically with Aeva yet Youtube allows the copying of the html code. Is there any way (official or ahem otherwise) of overcoming this so those URLs do embed?

Here's an example of a URL which won't embed...

http://www.youtube.com/watch#!v=clOdyzP9fcw&feature=related

(Don't worry - it's a Joyce Grenfell song)

SMF v2.1.4  Mods : Snow & Garland v1.4, Simple Image Upload v2.0.0,  PHP  v.8.1

Nao 尚

Tried it, and used the  tag to embed it directly as well...
In both cases, it failed to show a video. So it's YouTube's fault...

Edit: my bad. Both embeds work fine. I'd disabled plugins on my page.

I think I've seen a mod for this. Put "smf mod" into your browser then 'streaming' into the smf mod site search field just to check.

jay, one reason for errors when uninstalling  ....

You might be interested in this, I was messing around with the second site that seemed to take the upgrade ok, but it would not work.  Displays were a little messed up, and when I tried to create an account it gave me an error message that the m..gal directories did not have the right permissions, which was BS because the permissions were fine.

Poking around in the production directories I discovered that all of the directories that were supposed to be created by the upgrade package did not exist, instead there was a zero length file of the same name where the directories were supposed to be.

I have seen a similar problem with other mods, not sure if the mod author is screwing up, or if it is particularity of my hosting company.

At any rate I unzipped the upgrade locally, and using filezilla, one at a time deleted the zero length files on the server, then uploaded the missing directories and their contents one at a time until everything was tutto a posto.

When back and checked the media gallery, and now everything is working fine.

When I have the time I will go back to the orginal problem site and see if all of the 1.1b directories are in place.

i runing version  1.1.11

Find this in the /themes/your theme/index.template.php file (note: for your theme)
// the [member] list button
if ($context['allow_memberlist'])
echo ($current_action == 'mlist' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $first .

paste this in the file before it:
// Aeva Media
// Recalculate number of unseen items
global $user_info;

if (!empty($user_info['aeva_unseen']) && $user_info['aeva_unseen'] == -1)
{
global $sourcedir;
require_once($sourcedir . '/Aeva-Subs.php');
aeva_loadSettings();
}

$aeva_unseen = !allowedTo('aeva_access_unseen') || empty($user_info['aeva_unseen']) || $user_info['aeva_unseen'] == -1 ? 0 : $user_info['aeva_unseen'];

if (allowedTo('aeva_access'))
echo ($current_action == 'media' || $context['browser']['is_ie4']) ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $first . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '', '
<td valign="top" class="maintab_', $current_action == 'media' ? 'active_back' : 'back', '">
<a href="', $scripturl, '?action=media">', isset($txt['aeva_gallery']) ? $txt['aeva_gallery'] : 'Media', $aeva_unseen ? '</a> <a href="' . $scripturl . '?action=media;sa=unseen">[<b>' . $aeva_unseen . '</b>]' : '', '</a>
</td>', $current_action == 'media' ? '<td class="maintab_active_' . $last . '">&nbsp;</td>' : '';

If it doesn't work or you don't know how to do it then attach the file here and I'll do it. I'm still learning how version 2 handles this kinda thing. It refers stuff from other places it appears so I'm not too good with that yet. Not that I'm too good anyway, but this should work.

That edit is correct. Make sure you refresh your browser cache. Or this isn't the file from your theme. Or the dziner themes handle things differently somehow.

EDIT: DSv1 is a premium theme so I can't download it to see the file. However the ds natural theme from theme does use a div in this section. A thing I have only the vaguest understanding of, but your file does not. This does lend some weight to the idea that you might have the wrong file. However there's nothing that says all their themes have to be written the same way so maybe not.

dvd123

ofc i refresh site and this file is from theme i can pm you and give you full files
