Help, I can't install Aeva after upgrading from 2.0rc3 to 2.0rc5, it will pass the pre install test in the package manager but when I try to install,  it just sits there and gives me a time out error, I think it's the first line ( execute db_aeva.php ).  When I try to execute that line I get a "no input file specified" error...how do I fix this?  :(

Bump......?
edit; of course Aeva was running just fine before the upgrade, so there should not be anything wrong with the database.  then un-installed and upgraded to 2.0rc5 now it just times out and I cant install the package, no errors from package installer in the pre install test.
The only thing I can presume, since I know I'm not crazy (certifiably at least), is that everybody else is until they prove otherwise! 8)

So, did you unpack the file and put it in the same folder as SSI.php?

Arantor

OK, so why are you doing it that way instead of using the installer normally?

I did use the installer normally and it just sits there and times out,  so i decided to see if I could run it manuallyand place ssi.php in the same folder.

Um... as opposed to putting the installer into the main forum directory? You're not supposed to move SSI.php outside the forum main directory otherwise it can't find Settings.php...

Can World Star Hip Hop be added to Aeva Media or how can I incorporate their videos on my forum using Aeva Media?

Did you read the first post in this topic that discusses it?

Thanks for being positive and providing a useful answer.  I don't know how to build a custom file looking for help. Your sarcasm didn't.

Arantor

Well, just to brighten your day, it will NOT be added to Aeva centrally, can tell you that without even batting an eyelid.

I wasn't even being intentionally sarcastic, but perfectly factual in that the first post in this thread does discuss how to add to Aeva, and points to the example file that comes with Aeva...

There aren't many people supporting Aeva these days, since its author is moving it away from SMF...

Thanks for the information, I will look for a different alternative than Aeva.

is hs enabled in the settings and the actual album?

Yes it is - thanks for the reply.  I was thinking it had something to do with the css but haven't sorted it out...

I gave it a try with Chrome and it completed the install, but I can't find the Aeva Control Panel...

In the admin --> packages --> installed packages  it list Aeva as installed...

any help would be appreciated..

You can't really miss the Aeva control panel as it has it's own Admin menu item. It can be a bit fickle though if you have other mods installed; basically because it's trying to amend similar code in the relevant files.

In this instance I suspect it hasn't installed properly. Would advise you to uninstall and try again.

Aeva has clashed with mods I've used in the past. Consequently, if a reinstall doesn't work then I'd advise you to make sure it's either the first mod you install or failing that install it manually  ;)

I stated checking the files and none of them include the new Aeva code, so I'm working on a maual install... fingers crosses...

manual install done, not any fun but it's working!

all of this started while trying to get Aeva lite to work with youtube's youtu.be/ links...
I read that the *fix* only works with the full version of Aeva, so that is what started this whole process...

I'll post again when/if I get the shortened youtube links for autoembed!

Arantor

You read wrong. The fix works on either version since it's the same file in the same place that gets edited.

my bad... i tried that *fix* with the light version and it didn't work, that's when I assumed that it required the full version...

I added the *pattern* code to the Subs-Aeva-Sites.php but it still doesn't work...

anything else that I should try?

Arantor

So did you edit the existing pattern that's there for YouTube or not?
Holder of controversial views, all of which my own.

woolly bugger

yes I put the new pattern in place of the old one.  the long youtube.com links still work but the new short links still do not
