And, if you are concerned about that sort of thing, then the mod which we use here (which sets users under certain post counts to either rmove links or use nofollow) so that things are moderate-able before Google catalogs them...  However, it still doesn't work nearly the way you seem to think it does.

QuoteEven so that's still the job of moderators to police content, you can't fix sociological problems with technical solutions.
I agree, moderators are an absolutely necessity, and i would love to have an army of moderators, but i have not got that. So i would like to minimise the workload as much as possible.

BB13

Ok then, how does Nofollow work. What is it that i don't understand?

Kindred

Nofollow works to prevent the spiders from following the link. Absolutely.
However, by adding nofollow to all links, you WILL get penalized.
Additionally, having links to outside content does not "penalize" you as you have stated. At least not in the short term, and not Unless your site is overrun...

No, they still follow it these days. They just don't add any weighting to it.

But if ALL your links are nofollowed, Google actually assumes that you don't trust any of the content you're linking to - and assumes that there should be less trust of links *to* you as well. It's a sort of distributed trust map, and the less trust there is, the worse it is for you.

They used to not follow it but the rules change every so often ;) Apparently they do follow it these days but there's no telling if that will continue to be the case, put it that way.

QuoteApparently they do follow it
As fare as i have heard, they reserve the right to crawl a nofollow link. But it doesn't necessarily mean that they will. But even so if they do follow it that should not make any notable difference for the page.

I would accept that this could be true for a static homepage. But when a homepage that has dynamic content and content creating users. Then the homepage owner have no way to trust the links that is being posted. Facebook twitter wikipedia you name it, all use nofollow. Are you saying that they are being trusted less for there nofollow links, or are you saying that there is different rules for them than there is for me?

Why the hell are we arguing about SEO. There's no such thing as SEO and there's no such thing as forum SEO.

First of all...   That error has nothing to do with version or emulation. Emulate is used to install a mod which was specifically built for a different version.

Second, read the wiki on what an error in mod installation means and what to do about it...
http://wiki.simplemachines.org/smf/Error_in_mod_installation

Third, just as a reminder... When you post that you have a problem or an error... Posting the actual error or a clear description of the problem is a key point to getting assistance.

Kindred

Well, that really depends. ..  you did not give much in the way of specific or useful infornation.
For example.

long ext that cant be opened...

What exactly does that mean?  What extension?
How were they originally put on your ftp site?

Aeva does what SMF does: buries the actual file name and uses a different filename and extension for security purposes.

The intent is that the files are not meant  to be opened directly...

I have a convertor since you have SMF Gallery Pro if it is on the same forum have both galleries installed then run the convertor. I can send you the link to it if needed.
