For anyone who is interested in the IP debate and ownership of code:
Intellectual property is owned by the creator unless some contract transfers ownership. Even the *USE* of IP is governed by contract. (i.e. the owner may grant limited or unlimited permission to use and/or distribute said IP (or not to).

It is very clear...  without some statement otherwise, all rights for IP (which includes code, graphics and sometimes concepts) remains with the original author.

now: That is not to say that someone can not make a similar mod and be completely legal. It may even share some coding concepts with nao's mod, since there are only so many ways to do something in php. However, if significant portions of the code are too similar, then it becomes either a copy or a derivative, both of which are covered by the IP laws, and for someone to take Nao's mod and dump it into another piece of code (like SMF core, for example) would require Nao's permission...

As for actually adding a gallery to the SMF core.
Nope. Not going to happen.
SMF is a FORUM and while there are many features which possibly should be added to the core of the forum, a gallery is not one of them.
If/When we expand the simplemachines branding to other projects, we may build a gallery, but even then, it would be a separate piece, not part of the forum distribution.

On what basis? I am completely within any rational set of rules. I am discussing the future of auto-embedding and SMF. Some nuisance child wants to take his ball home because he didn't get his way and wants to ban anyone who won't pander to him and you expect me to help you help him? Ban away. I will not assist your efforts in this regard. I will make it even more difficult in response.

It's not a secret, really.
It's what most of the guys who left the SMF team so far are working together on.
It's not even started yet, though. It's just a project for these old friends to work on without the issues of the SMF team management.
And it's not a forum software. Most of them are kinda through with forum software right now, understandably. It'll have a forum module in the future, but not so soon. Maybe I'll work on it, too.

- Zoom: I have the zoom link show up on all images that are resized, at least on media.noisen.com... Don't see any problem myself.

- I have no idea... AeMe is not really built for huge files. You could do it differently if you absolutely need some file in your gallery:
1. Make a dummy 0-byte file called TheNameYouWant.mp4
2. Upload it normally
3. Go to your FTP account, go to the album folder, copy the encrypted file name, rename your actual local file to that name, upload the local file to the remote destination.
4. Go to phpMyAdmin, edit your smf_aeva_media table to change the filesize and duration for your file. (This may be the trickiest part.)

Done!

- View counts: recent SVN releases have this fixed, really.

Thread read in it's entirety and now my eyes are bleeding.

There are just too many ingrates roaming around SMF. There is no denying Nao brought a lot to SMF, and it even came with a sprinkle of attitude. I would have handled things just the same way. You can only stomach so much. Yeah yeah, I'm not a mod author, or theme maker, or anything like that, so what does it matter what I think? Well, I am part of the community.

I believe I have stopped the bleeding in my eyes now...

this could be an easy one, tried searching for similar previous issues, but i think i might be to hysteric to find any.

I finally left GoDaddy for my own server, and moved all the files accordingly. yet, in my new site all AEVA files are scrambled (see attc).

please help, its a live site and i've put it down till i fix this issue. i know its stupid, but for different reasons it was necessary.

I'm afraid your files got corrupted during the transfer... Probably weren't entirely uploaded, etc.
If it also corrupts your thumbnails, then one of the servers involved is really bad. You should redo the transfer with a FTP client that is more secure (checks file integrity), I suppose.
