You read about my resignation, but then you don't read the next paragraph that says where I can be contacted?
That's odd...

No, I didn't leave because of burn-out, since I'm still providing support, but in a place where I can control things -- my place, noisen.com.

I left because the SMF team has absolutely no frigging respect for me and everyone knows it.
After years of being refused any spot in the team where I could have write access on SMF2, I asked for a moderator position on this board, which I consider I should own (because it wouldn't exist if it wasn't for me anyway.)
It was refused. Which means they purposedly led me into fights with n00bs, which in turn helped them find reasons to blame me for my 'attitude' and thus have a good reason to deny me a team position. See?
That's why I've resigned from all of my official positions at SMF. I've been, for over 2 years, the main beta tester for SMF2, the French translator and the author of the most popular mods. And the most exploited slave around here.
Still, no position in the team.

That's not a "Oh, I'm tired" goodbye, that's a "I REFUSE TO BE EXPLOITED FOR A SINGLE MORE MINUTE BY THE SMF HIGHER-UPS" goodbye.

That's a situation where I realize I've been somehow kneeling to other people for years just hoping for a 'position' where I could change something in the software to make it better. But when the people who manage the software are too proud or too stupid to realize they need capable volunteers, not slaves, whatever their attitude (*which* can only grow worse the more you exploit them), what can you do other than leave!
Of course it's not everyone in the team, but you catch my drift. There are THOSE who will always use their position to prevent someone from joining the team officially because they don't like him. Even if they, themselves, bring f'cking nothing to the project.
When I requested my badge to be removed, it was done immediately. See, SMF2 is pretty much finished so there's no more need for me. They don't need to give me a badge to keep me working on Aeva Media. And all in all -- no badge, means no credit left for me in the About Team page, which has dozens of people listed over there that have certainly done less for SMF than I used to do in a month. Like some of the SMF managers.

That's why I left.
Not because of "burnout". Because of the overall attitude -- not from me, but from the team.
Just wanted to make things clear...

As a PS to the team: I'm saving this message. If a single word of it is changed, consider I want completely out of this site, so you might as well remove all of my mods, posts and topics. ALL of them, the 80+ topics and 4800+ posts. It's all or nothing.
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

I recon you are in a windy and rainy environment right now. What made you to decide tomove than?
I love sunshine.

BTW, do you see the mediagallery right now as a guest?
Thanks for everything.

Nao, maybe you can do anything with the code as well. I'm missing the "unseen" part in the new code.
I'm gonna work on that.
Thanks for the mod and the support.

I'm just saying I'm not reading the questions/reports/etc. I just noticed my nickname came up and made a quick answer. "I'm not listening, lalala!"™

Okay, I understand that, and it's okay.  I mainly meant to see if somebody else had experienced my problem before escalating to your site.  I apologize for any bad feelings that I may have invoked.

QuoteI have used Gallery2 before in a standalone site and it made
nice drop shadow text stamps in the right lower corner.
I have yet to receive feedback about watermarking.
I'd like this!

Where does it say that?
My policy has obviously changed since then, because I decided to no longer provide support here...

If you want to ask SMF-specific support questions, you should ask them in their support boards. For AeMe-specific questions, they should be at noisen, whatever the n00b-level. You just expose yourself to constant mockery from my part.  ;D
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

Nao: On http://aeva.noisen.com/, the http://aeva.noisen.com/support/ board's (board 80) description:
QuoteTech support for Aeva Media. Please use the official SMF topic to ask your n00b questions.

Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelled of elderberries!

What Arantor said.
And I thought you were requesting that n00bs rely on each other for support over here!
Thanks for the clarification over there -- where I now feel my (potentially) n00b question will be acceptable.

Well I don't know what the SMF team is planning to do with this board when the man it was created for (without asking for it) doesn't want to use it..

I guess at some point, though, I'll just stop reading it. But right now, I read it for fun. Knowing I already resigned as tech support here, it's kinda amusing to see support questions pop up. If that's what SMF wants...

AngelinaBelle: Were you just going for the geek win with the Python quote or the double hit irony of Nao being French?

The biggest problem is that no-one ever actually wanted to help Nao support this mod over here, and so it's gone nuts.

Nao: Same thing that happens to all the mod threads where the mod authors don't read them, likely. IMHO what should happen is that this board should be closed - including the Aeva thread, with both the first and last post updated to point to your site for support, then you can act as you see fit without having to answer to anyone else. *shrug* It's what we will shortly be doing with SD.

~DS~

I don't mind going to the author's site for support if it does not support on SMF, authors have right to support wherever they want.
"There is no god, and that's the simple truth. If every trace of any single religion were wiped out and nothing were passed on, it would never be created exactly that way again. There might be some other nonsense in its place, but not that exact nonsense. If all of science were wiped out, it would still be true and someone would find a way to figure it all out again."

The triple-hit, responding to un Français, a Python-quoter himself, threatening to mock me.:)  He has style!
Of course, the volume of MPFC material skewering the English is much higher, but that's getting OT.

I'm happy to go to whichever site he directs me to, and to get advice from anyone knowledgeable user. That mod has so many features!

Nao is actually the person I want to be - he has the nerve to tell people where to go, whereas I get just as frustrated but don't feel able to publicly vent, though since I left the team I have actually been more able to release my fury. He also has the style; I just think I'm funnier than I actually am ;)

*nods* If you see a "Get support here" sign, that's where you're going to go ultimately.

Some of this points to the damn near impossibility of one guy handling a project like this by himself with tens of thousands of users. There will likely be lazy and or brain dead n00b questions about anything digital for the next several centuries. A project with this many users and one guy at the helm will soon have him curled up under his desk half coherently mumbling something about machine guns and elves.

I think NAO will be able to work better on his own turf. I'll make sure I wear my helmet O:)
