I think this is what a number of us are worried about. I can't see myself ever wanting to use anything else now I'm using Aeva.

I've been discussing the matter with my girlfriend today. Although she wasn't very supportive of my working on Aeva Media (basically, it took away a LOT of our time together in the last two years), she thought it wasn't very fair of me to simply drop the software when so many people are relying on it. Although I beg to differ because it's working just fine as it is, I also understand that there are people who have been supportive of me and I don't like the idea of 'dropping' them (more than Aeva Media itself.)

So, I'm considering to switch to a full paid mode for AeMe. What do you think of this? v1.3 would remain free, but all subsequent releases would be reserved to paying customers. Would still be a cheap pricetag, like $20-$30, and it would of course also include a copy of the Foxy! add-on. I suppose it would keep everyone happy. More AeMe releases, and less trouble for me to deal with.
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

Whatever makes you happy, Nao, and I stand by you. Heck AeMe is one hell of a mod. :)

By this  "less trouble for me to deal with." you mean it reduce stupid support questions unless they pay for the mod?

"There is no god, and that's the simple truth. If every trace of any single religion were wiped out and nothing were passed on, it would never be created exactly that way again. There might be some other nonsense in its place, but not that exact nonsense. If all of science were wiped out, it would still be true and someone would find a way to figure it all out again."

For me it's not a problem :-)

TheListener

Although understandable there is a problem.

Many people will not like the idea of using payment methods such as paypal or credit cards online.

Also what about those such as myself on a very low income?

I would totally pay $20-$30. =)

I also would pay for AeMe, Nao.  Even if it meant still paying a recurring fee for Foxy!.

Good idea, and it is not expensive for the quality of the Mod !

I'll of course pay (as I did for Foxy!)!
So, go for it!!!!!! ;)

No, current Foxy! customers won't have to pay again. I'm not greedy for money. I just want... you know the concept of equivalent exchange, from alchemy (and Fullmetal Alchemist)? Well, that's what I'm looking for. A balance between users and my lack of enjoyment at providing support and/or adding new features.

1.3a has only two bugs I can find which may be peculiar to my own loading.

1. If I upload an album icon to replace a previous one that previous one is still showing in the album itself and if I try to upload yet another then the icon within the album replicates.

2. The double posting of a Google Map which has already been answered on this thread and if I search then I'll likely find the solution to problem 1.

Both of these are easily worked around but would you release 1.3b before developing further, Nao?

I think, as you've said, for any developments beyond series 1.3 (which pray will work with 2.0 final) then making a charge is perfectly reasonable if only because it involves development way and beyond what anyone would reasonably expect from a mod.

I'm also on a low income but I'll find your Paypal button readily enough.  :)

Just as long as you don't try to bring any dead relatives back to life...it'd really suck for your girlfriend if you were reduced to a suit of armor, or lost an arm and leg.  Imagine how long it'd take you to type updates THEN!  ;)  :P

Well, the stuff just ended a few weeks ago and I'm glad to tell you that both brothers ended up in perfect condition in the epilogue ;) (I still prefer the movie, though.)

Agreed.  I've got the entire series and the movie, but haven't watched 'em in awhile.  Maybe I'll pull 'em out this weekend...

Nao 尚

Wouldn't you rather watch the second show? FMA Brotherhood adapts the manga more faifthfully. At least you wouldn't feel like you're rewatching the same thing ;)

I don't remember seeing that.

That's because of a double install, I can only guess...

QuoteBoth of these are easily worked around but would you release 1.3b before developing further, Nao?
I don't think so. Maybe security fixes, but nothing more. Everything's going into 2.0. It's either that, or just nothing, as I announced yesterday I was retiring Aeva Media entirely...

I should have started charging for it when I release AeMe 1.0, but at the time I was probably a bit too ecstatic about how my hard work was helping the awareness of my favorite forum system. Well, things change and relationships get complicated.

2. Dismal Shadow and I had this problem. The solution was to post some text before the Google Map link. It happened if someone insisted on using the html instead of the URL (which is the whole point of the mod) but Google do tell folk to post only a part of the html anyway eg. the code after the first /object> tag.

1. I've searched but no solution. Each album is small anyway so redoing it if someone insists on wanting to change their icon is no big thing. Has anyone else here noticed this?

Hey, you've got one really fine girlfriend there, Nao.  :)

I don't remember exactly, but it is definitely fixed in the latest release...

Yes, but it was not a general (public) release.
