Can this mod be used for MP3 upload and rate only?
And does anyone have a screenshot how how mp3 files looks in media gallery`:)

@BYUFanatic> Can you check whether there are at least two tabs with the Mass Upload page? I noticed that my Opera tends to crash more if there are two tabs open with Mass Upload in it, instead of the usual 1.

Yes.
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

Thanks. But it's an error either with SMF or SMG. It crashes Firefox and refuses to load in IE (I get an error message on the status bar).

Rob

I made some other tests and it doesn't seem to happen everywhere, I installed on a different server the same version of SMF with the same SMG and it didn't crash.
I also compared the HTML output and I didn't find any real differences (same tags, same javascripts), apart from
var smf_iso_case_folding = false; in the one that is crashing.

It crashes even with only one mass upload page open.

psynx

hello,

how do i change the filename? i mean, i want the description or filename of the image be seen under the image not on top of the image.

BYUFanatic

There is only ONE tab for MASS UPLOAD. Actually, it's not even a tab, but really just a link. It looks like this:

Add an item to this album   Mass Upload   Edit

In front of each link is a little folder icon (unable to click on those).

I click on MASS UPLOAD and then just wait a moment - it starts loading the page then it crashes. It's like it is trying to load some scripting or something and the scripting is causing an error. Firefox completely crashes and IE gives me an error message. The error message isn't very helpful:

Line: 4
Char: 48014
Error: Unspecified error.
Code: 0

One thing that is interesting - Although I changed the language to "English" (previously was "English-UTF8") I am still forced to go to ADMIN -> SERVER SETTING and SAVE it each time in order to get the MASS UPLOAD link to show up if I navigate away from my forum and then come back.

For the record -

I've uploaded about 19 FLV videos so far (manually, one by one) and they work great. They play smoothly, I'm about to view them full-screen, the quality is great. I like this mod. Just hope to get the kinks worked out.

No, you don't understand.
Tabs, in Firefox... Ever heard of tabs? Multiple websites in a single session? Like multiple windows but in one window only? Well, make sure you don't have two tabs that point to a Mass Upload page. That's all...

QuoteI click on MASS UPLOAD and then just wait a moment - it starts loading the page then it crashes.
Yeah, same here... (But only when I have two tabs with Mass Upload, again. I think.)

QuoteIt's like it is trying to load some scripting or something and the scripting is causing an error. Firefox completely crashes and IE gives me an error message. The error message isn't very helpful:
Given the char number, it's from the Mootools script.
I don't know what's wrong with Mootools, but it definitely is buggy.

No shouting here. Using ALL CAPS is a way of differentiating between my typing and a link or tab that I am referring to. This is typical of explaining something.

Ah, now that you have clearly specified that you are referring to FIREFOX tabs (yes, that time I purposely ALL CAPPED for emphasis) it makes more sense. SMF also has tabs. (Hence the confusion.) No, I do not have multiple instances of the forum open in Firefox.

I wish that's all it was. Unfortunately even if I have only one tab open (in FF or IE) I still get the error.

SMG is written using Mootools? Or is Mootools a rendering engine? I have to admit that ever since I stopped programming years ago I am not familiar with tools and engines used nowadays.

Hmm. I always thought bold was used for that, not caps lock.

Actually... nowadays it's with graphic files. *grin*

I'm from way back - started before we had the niceties of BBC coding. Everything was all completely in Courier font. Old habits die hard.

Courier font....

Must be talking of the old style BBS boards.

Yep. The Internet used to be BBSes and dial-up modems. Computers with CGA screens (4 colors) were considered top-of-the line (replacing the old green screens of course). I grew up around computers and remember back when "hard drives" were cassette tapes and punch cards. *grin*

Last time I wrote any professional code was 1999. I still dink around a little bit, but no longer churn out my own code. All my time nowadays is eaten up by teaching. (I changed career paths.) One of my goals is to get my SMF forum working as smoothly as possible with these mods for my kids. Another goal is to get my Moodle site running so that I can work with online/distance-learning students.

Well, then it's something else... :-/
Dragooon will have to recognize at some point that the FancyUpload thing stinks -- at least stability-wise. And he'll either fix the bug, or change back to SWFUpload.

QuoteSMG is written using Mootools? Or is Mootools a rendering engine? I have to admit that ever since I stopped programming years ago I am not familiar with tools and engines used nowadays.
Mootools is a Javascript extension library. It adds a few special instructions and ways of dealing with the DOM structure easily (many other libraries do the same kind of stuff -- jQuery, YUI, Prototype, etc...). Mootools seems to be less stable than the other libraries, but I don't know enough about Javascript (just the basics -- I can modify code but I'm not so good at writing it), so I can't really convert FancyUpload to jQuery or anything else by myself...

BYUFanatic, let's try this...

Edit (via FTP) this file:
/Sources/MGallery-Sub.php

Search for this string:

<script type="text/javascript" src="'.mgal_theme_url('up/mootools.js').'"></script>

Replace it with:

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://digitarald.de/js/mootools-1.2-core-nc.js"></script>

Save, upload the file, and relaunch Firefox. (Make sure you erase your cache before you go to the Mass Upload page.)
Tell me if it works...
Please don't use this as a definitive solution -- you'll be using bandwidth from an external server without authorization. (Of course, you can download the mootools file and upload it somewhere to your FTP account, and then access it with its new URL.)

I would have done the test by myself, but since I can't reproduce the crash currently, I'm forced to rely on someone else... :(

Nao -

Ok. I'll give that a try in a bit (trying to do a number of things all at once tonight - as usual). I just discovered one problem though - none of my students can see the gallery. They get an error telling them they don't have permission to access it. However, I have checked the boxes giving them permission to. *scratches head*

Ugh.

Ok, replaced that line of code as you suggested. It still crashes FF and won't load in IE. Out of curiosity, I used NoScript in FF to temporary block that script from running. It didn't crash. But the second I re-enabled it, it crashed. So the error would appear to be with the MooTool library.

Odd that it would work on some users forums, but not on others. I'm guessing it is probably because of conflicts with other mods.

Also, any ideas as to why my students cannot access the gallery? I've enabled it for everyone - including guests - but still no luck.

if only i know how to edit it....unfortunately im complete noob when it comes to coding. perhaps you could tell me what file to look for? and what code to insert or edit?

Nao 尚

@psynx> The template is MGallery.template.php... The thumbnail box code is in function show_item_list... Study a bit of PHP, you're bound to need some PHP knowledge if you want to seriously edit some of your mods, eh...

It doesn't mean that--since Javascript is used to initialize the Flash object, it could also be related to the Flash component, obviously. But I'm leaning towards the Mootools library anyway. Although the fact that it still crashed after using the original author's "recommended" library version is a concern to me. I'm afraid I can't do anything more for now -- we'll have to let Dragooon decide whether he wants to investigate the issue on his side, or find an alternative, or just leave it be and pray that we are only a handful of sad FancyUpload users. (Although the very fact that the co-developer of SMG has the problem is quite a bit scary in itself.)

I don't think so.

Are you sure you enabled permissions in the General Permissions area, for each member group?
Can they access the gallery through a direct link? (/?action=mgallery)
