SMF Media Gallery (SMG) - 2.0.5 is out! (December 2)

dooooone! installed smg, converted data, uninstalled smf gallery lite and everything works fine. the only thing is that the names of the albums have changed a bite as if greek is not recognized. foe example

Αναμνήσεις was changed into Αναμνήσε&#

anybody knows why?

You'll be needing to modify your theme on SMF 1.1 in order for it to show the button. Search the forum.

Button problem with it thought.
But I have a problem with Cyrillic.
Replacement, a replacement but the situation is the same. I guess that is a small problem but I currently do not remember how to fix it.
Of the attached photo will see several texts I translated the Cyrillic alphabet but they do not read.

how do i get them out of there?

yuo pasted lines of code into your greek language file, didn't you?

Make sure that the ?> is the last line of the modifications.greek.php (and that it does not appear anywhere else)

i didn't paste anything, i installed greek through the package installer. you were right though, the ?> was the problem. fixed, thank you very much for all the help.

Hm..Is your forum set to follow UTF-8 or normal latin charecter set?

i also noticed that no matter what picture i set as the picture of an album, the default pic doesn't change. when i create a new album there is no album picture at all and i cannot set one. (well that's a completely different issue offcourse but i thought i should mention it)

Ok, I've tried uploading videos both as .flv and as .mp4, and when I go to view the item, the page can't be displayed, and I have to use the prune function to get rid of the video. Any suggestions on getting that feature to work?

Did you try clearing your browser's cache? Because it works fine for me.

@Your greek problem - I'm not too sure....UTF-8 shouldn't cause any issues AFAIK. Are your mgallery tables at utf-8 too? Can you open them via phpmyadmin and tell there character coalition?

how do i know what tables are smg's? please tell me what i have to look for. i can see 4 tables by tha names smf_gallery_cat, smf_gallery_comment, smf_gallery_pic, and smf_gallery_report,are those the right ones?

nevertheless all tables are in latin1_swedish_ci collation (i don't really know what that means but i know that i have chosen my database to be in utf-8 through administration).

I'm thinking we should be releasing 1.6 next... I don't think there are any other bugs left in 1.5.x, and I'm really through with updating both branches every time we make a fix, really. Which has been causing me to participate less and less.

do i have to do that through forum admin or through php admin. in php admin i found a way to change callation but there are many types of utf-8. which one do i choose?

Try doing it via Maintenance > Convert to UTF-8. Make sure to backup your DB before doing this as this is irreversible.

i did it but still no good, and some other text in the sidebars of my forum went ... chinese (Î"είÏ,,ε σÏ,,ην Έκθεση ). now i need to get my backup back on, but i don't know how (through forum admin i took a copy named minasc_forum-complete_2009-01-25.sql.gz). could you please tell me?

i noticed that the titles of the albums turn from letters to symbols only after the 10th letter. if a title is 8-letter-long it shows ok. now i know that every greek letter counts for more than one english letters, so if we could increase the number of letters allowed in the titles wouldn't that solve the problem? but you will have to tell me how.

Yeah well I suppose that'll be the end of me or something... There's nothing I hate more than this, really. I could understand the branch system if we were a team of 27 devs working on these. Or a huge project. Still, the only "big new" feature in 1.6 is FTP upload. It took you a few hours to implement it. No bug was found. Now, for that simple feature, we've been hurting like hell to update both branches for a couple of months now. I find it silly.

So I'm going to add a few features to 1.6, and then call it quits. I'll only fix bugs on 1.6, and will not work on 2.0. If you want to update the 2.0 trunk with my 1.6 branch fixes/improvements, fine by me. But I'm sick with this little game, really. I prefer my Aeva naming system, eh.
