SMG Version? Are you sure that local album permission is correct? Check for the "Default" permission profile, and make sure that the album is assigned to it.

I think this might be worth looking into when you guys do the next update. It has been reported before. This happens when a member has been deleted. If this member still has pictures the gallery and one clicks on it, you get this error in your log.

I don't know what I can say. I'm not familiar with that aspect of the code, and as for Dragooon I'm not sure what's his current position towards SMG itself -- I've been asking him to release beta 2 for weeks now (he promised he'd release early & often, as soon as we'd have some stuff ready for testing really...), and apparently he no longer reads his own board -- there's a large backlog of topics to comment on, really.

Dragooon, if you read this... Get up!

We just installed v2b1 (on SMF v1.1.10) and absolutely love it!  Haven't run into any problems at all, and it's likely going to be even more popular than Aeva.  However, unless we missed a setting somewhere, it doesn't seem to tell you that there are new files unless you actually enter the Gallery.  We were wondering if it'd be possible to add something similar to the way the PM system lets you know you have new PMs...

On the Main Menu Button, have it display "GALLERY [xx]" to tell you xx amount of files are new to you in the Gallery.

No big deal if it can't be done.  Just wanted to pass the suggestion along.

Again, I apologize if it's been mentioned already.  You guys rock!

I am working on a mod to split the gallery for my subdomain mod.

Basically, the mod splits the forum into subdomains, say a subdomain for each game series on the site.

I also want it to split the download and gallery section, so I don't get downloads and gallery images from one subdomain in another subdomain.

I got the category split working, but I need to do the same for recent and random items / comments.

However, I am not sure where to find the function I need to edit.

Yeah I guess so... It's more impressive at least. (I'm only saying that because I wrote both, uh.)
Too bad it doesn't have a hundredth of Aeva's popularity over here. No idea why... Sometimes I'm actually thinking of merging SMG and Aeva together into some über-mod that would do everything including the laundry.

Nah. Anything that changes stuff in the SMF core files, I leave up to Dragooon. And he doesn't seem to be working on SMG these days. Haven't seen him commit something serious for the last few months. I'm actually releasing Beta 2 without him today...

You can still get the latest gallery pics to show up somewhere on your theme with a hack... I'm doing it on http//noisen.com for instance.

The usual answer: if you're putting adult contents in your album, and you password-protect it to avoid children seeing it, they'll still be able to see the album's icon which may or may not be adult oriented...

I dont have an adult album. My site if about software development and i'm currently working on adding an implementation collision detection alghoritm to be added to my game engine but i only want people that are part of the project to be able to access it and see the screenshots of the current build, i want to show a thumbnail instead of the default folder image. That said,  I have little php experience so i'm not sure if it's easy to do, Thanks anyway, awesome mod.

I just used FTP to upload about 200 files.

using your ftp program, go to the ftp folder in mgal_data
using your ftp programs, load all of the images for a single directory

in gallery admin, go to ftp and select a folder (all of the image files that you just uploaded should be listed)
click proceed.

All of those files are moved into the chosen folder and thumbnails generated.

You can now load files into the ftp directory for the next folder... or edit the uploaded images

I followed this procedure, and it seemed to work fine.  Then I checked the error log and found these:

Both were displayed twice (a total of 4 errors) each time I used the FTP option to add files to a Gallery.

SMF is v1.1.10, and SMG is v2.0b1.

By the way, adding the server timeout/pause when adding lots of files via FTP was very considerate programming.  Nice job!

Uh it's not a function, it's simply inside mgallery_home() or something in MGallery.php ... Then it's shown through the template.

Regular, cool additions:

+ Added "clear thumbnail names" setting in admin's SMG security area, which allows you to show an album's thumbnails using
  the thumbnail's direct URL, saving your server the cost of a PHP call (which goes through the SMF initialization process),
  if you don't mind letting your users be able to share the URL to your thumbnails with anyone.
+ Added a pre-written .htaccess solution to the mod_security problem. It only needs to be found by the swf file itself,
  so let's just put it in the mgallery folder and let mod_security do its work on the rest...
+ Added "next" variables to admin area settings, allowing the page to show "Kb", "pixels" or "%" values next to text boxes
+ Rewrote homepage's "Recent Items" feature to allow users to browse through all files uploaded to the gallery, and choose a sort order for them
* When showing 5 thumbnails in the previous/next section on item pages, clicking on the arrows will now
  go to the previous/next page of thumbnails, instead of just going to the next visible thumbnail
* Comment box and report box's textareas will now always fit the resizable window if Highslide is enabled

Related to Foxy! add-on:

! "details" setting in smg tag for Foxy! add-on was always empty
+ Added "no_name" details setting for linked topics (topics are *usually* showing a title already, right?)

The big whoops:

! Search results number was always set to 1, which limited them to one page
! Hidden albums were broken when applying the setting to a general album. In addition to fixing this, I also removed the warning text
  which usually shows up on hidden albums, because really the only people that won't be able to view them are the guests.

Small change, aka Pocket money:

* Added ability to specify several permissions in albumsAllowedTo, just in case...
* Show the preview picture for audio files inside the player when outside the item page, to save some space
* Allowed every membergroup to be checked regardless of the scenario (Dragooon's only contribution to this beta -- where are you gone, Dragooon?! -- Nao)
! Potential undefined index in Exif code (not our fault )
! array_string database type wouldn't work because $connection wasn't initialized
+ Added a short routine that automatically renames thumbnail files to prevent users from guessing the full file's URL.
  This is only a dirty implementation -- if you have thousands of thumbnails around, please don't enable the "clear thumbnails"
  option as it might crash your server when renaming them all in a single process.
* Added a generic sortbox function for use in Recent Items as well as album listings
! Don't show the area for action icons in album pages if user can't see any of these icons
* Updated prev/next code to show direct thumbnail URLs if this setting is enabled
! Fixed an unclosed div when disabling Javascript
! A typo would break CSS validation
* Slightly updated homepage layout

Things left to do:

@ To do: debug the file deletion area -- seems like everything's not deleted when using clear filenames and deleting an item
@ To do: add a "URL to gallery files" setting in admin area, instead of trying to guess it from the data_dir_path setting
         (because of folder aliases, it might not be in the same apparent path as $boarddir -- was the case for me)
@ To do: will need to rename "Recent Items" to something more generic or change it according to the current sort order...
