Firstly, a big thanks to Nao for all the hard work that has been put into this mod.

However I am having a few small problems that I hope someone can help with.

I am running SMF 2.0 RC1.2 and Simple Portal  2.1.1 and a custom theme.

I uninstalled SMG 2.0.5 before installing Aeva Media.

Problem 1. I have about 1600 errors in the error log, all pretty much the same...
http://xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.co.uk/smf2/index.php?action=forum
8: Undefined index: mgallery_gallery
File: /home/bkcc/public_html/smf2/Sources/Subs.php
Line: 3917

The only thing that changes with the errors is the end of the fist line after index.php? It may end;
action=admin
action=login
action=pm
topic=579.0
Etc etc.

Does mgallery have anything to do with Aeva Media? I had no errors at all before uninstalling SMG and installing Aeva Media.
Can someone help me with this error please?

Problem 2.
When I click thumbnails to expand pics, the text 'Zoom' & 'More Details' in the bottom right of the picture is invisible until hovered over. In other words the text is the same colour as the frame border.

I am guessing this has something to do with the text colours in my custom theme?

If I cant change the text colour, is it possible to change the picture border to say black?

Problem 3.

This again may have something to do with my custom theme, but when I am logged in as admin I have 2 buttons, one is my old gallery picture button plus the new Media button (text only). My custom theme has picture buttons which I think I can add to Media but I wonder why there are two buttons?

Problem 4.

I have lost random images from my Simple Portal homepage. Simple Portal issue I guess?

Can you help me please?

Thanks in advance.

Kindred

problem 1 - looks like you did not completely uninstall the mod from subs.php. This would be in the menu function...
the undefined index is the system trying to get the menu text string and not finding it.

problem 2 - check the CSS file(s) in the aeva directory

problem 3 - see the answer to problem 1 above...

Thank you Kindred :)

Problem 1 solved - for some reason the the un-install of SMG left a reference to a SMG gallery Array button?? Anyway I have deleted all references and no more errors in my error log ;D

Problem 2 solved - had to find files and experiment quite a lot with Aeva Media CSS but got there in the end ;D

Problem 3 solved - exactly as you said, all connected with problem 1 - Deleted all references to SMG Array and renamed my original gallery button to Aeva Media ;D

Problem 4 - still ongoing - believe this to be a compatibility issue with Simple Portal - I am following threads on their forum with interest.

Problem 4 solved - Created PHP Block in Simple Portal and added this code into it..

global $sourcedir, $user_info, $ID_MEMBER, $context, $txt, $galurl, $galurl2, $scripturl, $settings, $db_prefix;
loadLanguage('Aeva');
@include_once($sourcedir . '/Aeva-Subs.php');
echo aeva_listItems(aeva_getMediaItems(0, 4, 'RAND()'), false, '', 1);

Play with 0, 4, and RAND to get what you want. Credit to tfs.

My error log is full of these:

8: Undefined index: mgal_total_comments
File: /home/XXXXX/public_html/news/Sources/Load.php
Line: 1115

8: Undefined index: mgal_total_items
File: /home/XXXXX/public_html/news/Sources/Load.php
Line: 1114

Can someone help me out?  :-[

So ~aLEX, what version of SMF, what version of SMG?

Thank you Lord High Warlock :)

~aLEX it looks to me like you still have remnants of SMG conflicting with Aeva Media. I simply found all old references to SMG and deleted them. Worked for me, but your problem may be different. Always make back-ups before deleting anything.

Actually, you probably updated a previous version of SMG without uninstalling the earlier one. Then you uninstalled SMG to install AM, but uninstalling a double install leaves a copy active that you have to uninstall manually. So you'll have to delete all SMG references manually.

@aLEX> SMG is no longer supported (by me, at least.) Please upgrade to Aeva Media.
(And yes, I know I have a full page worth of incoming posts waiting for me over there... :P)

Nao, you are absolutely right in that I updated SMG, but I was sure to uninstall the previous version before doing so. I only uninstalled (but did not completely delete) the previous version until after installing the later one. Could that be why references were left behind?

All running smoothly now though, nice work.

I'm just telling you -- there's no other explanation, you forgot at one point to uninstall a previous version when updating. And deleting a package is recommended, but I'm not sure it's mandatory. Uninstalling is.

Actually, thinking back a while, I did try to upgrade a version of SMG and it had a problem with the uninstall process saying it couldent find something to replace with during the process. From memory I did try to sort it manually, obviously I didnt do a very good job of it. Maybe its something to do with my custom theme?

I was never sure about deleting packages but all's well that ends well.

I am having the same or similar problem.  I had Unistalled Aeva, then installed SMG again, thinking it would fix the issue with Simple Portal.  Now I have thousands of errors a day in the log.

Where do I need to start to find the SMG references and delete them?

Thanks,

RGecy

Astra_200

rgecy, I think you may have made a bit of work for yourself there. Personally I would have left Aeva Media in place and worked around any problems.

Sounds to me you didnt get clean uninstalls or didnt uninstall a previous SMG version before you upgraded.

All I can tell you is what I did. I looked at my errors in the SMF error log, identified where they were, and using ftp & notepad++ found the line numbers. I then deleted them as they all had references to SMG, luckily they were all on similar lines within the offending file so it was pretty easy. (Only one core error but repeated thousands of times with different actions)

If you have lots of errors in different folders and files then your job may be harder. I'm no pro at this by any means but it worked for me.

Always back up anything before yo start deleting stuff, that way if it all goes seriously wrong you are no worse off than you are right now.

Good luck.

You pretty much killed both SMG and Aeva Media by doing that.

Aeva Media is a no-return upgrade. If you don't have backups, then say goodbye to SMG.
SimplePortal support is not an issue. It's something that SimplePortal has to deal with, not me. I never asked them to make a code block for SMG, they didn't even tell me they did. I don't see why I'd have to support the non-availability of a code block for Aeva Media then.

Yep, I am seeing that Nao!  I am hoping they will update SP to fix the issue.

You have such a fantastic mod and they just wanted to keep up with all your great work! ;D ;D

Thanks for all the help!

Don't forget: if you have a working Aeva Media gallery AND an empty SMG gallery both in the same place, even if you uninstall SMG, upgrading (or installing) Aeva Media will wipe out your Aeva Media gallery.

Hello there from germany,

I use the mGal since 2.0.2 (I belive) and all worked fine. But now, without doing anything with it, all media are'nt shown and if I go to service and let mGal search for errors I get this:

...
The physical file #7, used with Inhalt 1,  is missing.
The DB entry of file #15, used with Inhalt #4,  is missing.
The physical thumbnail #16, used with Inhalt 4,  is missing.
The physical file #1174, used with Inhalt 453,  is missing.
The physical file #1180, used with Inhalt 457,  is missing.
The physical file #1183, used with Inhalt 458,  is missing.
The physical file #2186, used with Inhalt 844,  is missing.
... and so on ...

I have take a look in the database and also on the harddrive and all looks ok; the path is right and the files are also present. Ok, I not realy understand to 100% how it works in deeper but that what I belive to see is ok.

As an example let us take a look at the 1st entry for file #7 with content 1:
If I take a look in the database /smf_mgallery_files at id_file=1 I see ...

filesize = 4118
filename = music.png (present physicaly at \mgal_data\generic_images)
width = 48
height = 48
directory = generic_images
id_album = 0exif = (emty)

All other looks same: Data are ok but that is it...

May can anybody help to fix that? I realy don't have an idea where I have to search for that error...  :o

(sorry about my ugly english...)

So, I am having an odd thing happen.  First, SMF 2.0 RC2, Curve/Default theme (no tweaks).  SMG 2.0.5  International Brotherhood of Rail Riders is the site.

Next to the Gallery tab is [125].  This number NEVER changes; even when I upload images it remains the same.  Yes, I ran the Maintenance Recount Totals.

Vincit Omnia Veritas

tfs

That's the number of unseen images.  Go to Gallery tab, then click on "Unseen".  It should show you those 125 items.  There's a link there to mark all as unseen.

Everyone using SMG--- could you PLEASE update?!

At some point I will have to ask for this topic to be locked and redirected to the Aeva Media topic.

People:

- If you use SMG, then okay.
- If you have a problem with SMG, *UPGRADE TO AEVA MEDIA FIRST*.
- If you still have a problem, come to see me on the AM topic.

This will save EVERYONE a lot of time. Thanks.
