Why is not added the disableQuotedPrintable - 1 into smf_settings?

Needed for many languages....

:-[

Grudge

Personally, I wonder if that shouldn't be put into the language files themselves, as dependant on which language the email is sent in determines whether you need it? On a multi-language site like this we mya not want it always on or always off. Maybe the solution is to make it a $context setting and put it at the top of language files that need it?

If it says it has outdated files that means index.php in the root of your forum folder has not been uploaded.
I uploaded it and still doesn't work..
Dutch power!

Grudge

Purplemadness, do you want to PM me a link to your site and an ftp account and I'll resolve it that way - it's normally quicker than posting back and forth :)

I uploaded everything, but he says that he found outdated files ???

This is what I am getting also!

Could it have anything to do with permissions as some files were indicated as being from a previous version even though I KNOW I uploaded them??

Grudge

What version are you coming from, and what is the *exact* error message?

I am coming from smf_1-1-rc1_upgrade.zip

and I foolishly uploaded the upgrade for smf_1-0-5_update.zip

I then got errors like this.

I  get this when trying to access news and newsletters.

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare template_edit_news() (previously declared in /home/rally/public_html/forum/Sources/Load.php(1607) : eval()'d code:351) in /home/rally/public_html/forum/Sources/Load.php(1607) : eval()'d code on line 5

I then used the upgrade for smf_1-1-rc2_upgrade.zip

I have checked the file versions and I get this error.  I think it may have a bearing on  what is happening.  Is this possible?

SMF File   Your Version   Current Version

Current Templates   1.0          RC1   1.0.4

I then ensured I had uploaded everything again by doing ech folder independantly and now I get.

The upgrader found some old or outdated language files.

Please make certain you uploaded the new versions of all the files included in the package, even the theme and language files for the default theme.

hope this helps.

cheers for bothering with such a dawk  :)

Questions.....

I am on a 1.0.5 Forum.  I have a bunch of mods and a custom theme(Which I am not to concerned with).  But my questions are:

1) What will I lose when I upgrade from 1.0.5 to the new 1.1 rc2
2) What kind of time frame should I be expecting to upgrade it?

(I have such things as the shop, arcade, chat, and a few of the "info center" (which I see are automatically in this package) as some of the mods.  How will the stats and tokens and overall mods be effected on my board?)

I would wait until your shop and arcade mods are compatible with 1.1rc2 or maybe wait until 1.1 final is out. As far as how long it takes for the upgrade to complete depends on the size of your tables. The more posts and members you have the longer it will take. There are a few people that have posted there upgade time and post sizes farther back in the thread. When you do decide to do the upgrade I would suggest that you uninstall all your mods and then re-install with mods that are compatible with what ever version you upgraded to.

ukr

\i tested the theory and indeed the default directory was 774 so I set it to 777 and it now upgrades.

I have yet to see if I still get the previous error.

I have quite a few messages in my error logs  :)

ukr,

I think this is because you are using a custom theme which has those template files in it.

If you go to:
www.yourforum.com/index.php?theme=1

Does that work?

PS - The main thing is make sure your Themes/default directory has updated files in it as well!

Bingo.  nail on the head my main man  :)

I did not realise I had used a custom theme!  Sorry about that.  All I need to do now is try and remember where I got that theme from....or perhaps I might like a new theme now it seems to work.  Thanks for your time.

Would it be better for me to delete some of my long posts (in this forum)  with log files etc or might it be better to leave them to perhaps help others???

Grudge

Up to you on deletion.

For custom themes you should ONLY put the templates that you have changed in the directory. You don't want files like Admin.template.php in your custom theme AND default unless you have changed them - it makes upgrading hard. SMF automatically falls back on default if it can't find a template. Most custom themes will only require style.css and index.template.php, with maybe BoardIndex, MessageIndex and Display.template.php if they are very customised.

Cheers,

Grudge

Even when upgrading from SMF 1.1 RC1 to SMF 1.1 RC2
is it still okay to use UPGRADE instead of update
are there any benefits?
whats the difference?

Yes its ok to do that.

Benifits, takes out any junk code thats left over, perhaps from mods or such.

Update is just the changed files from RC1 to RC2, upgrade is a whole new batch but without installtion instead it has upgrade.

Ok thanks for the heads up.

I have changed the theme but now get some wierd results  :(  http://www.8thrallycross.co.uk/forum/index.php [nofollow] in case you are wondering what I mean .  I now have to go to B and Q my wife insists  :)  But will be back later.

cheers again!

wing

I had an interesting problem with my custom theme.

My theme only had style.css and index.template.php when I upgraded I had the same issue as the person above with it not finding show_settings in the admin menu.

I thought this was odd as I didn't have the admin.template in my custom theme.

To solve it I created a new theme from default.  Then copied my custom theme style.css and index.template.php overtop of the new theme, and it all worked.

Odd.... very odd.
