Hi,

Could someone please tell me how to install the mod once it has been uploaded, I see the mod in packages and I can see a file list but I do not know how to install it.

I can not see where you click to "apply mod"

it is 2-3.4

Thanks

Sorry bout that Roy,
If you have got the package uploaded thru package manager then you want to look under ADMIN>PACKAGES>BROWSE PACKAGES
The Mods uploaded show here and you can click [Apply mod] there. If it reads [Uninstall] then you already have it installed and need to check your permissions and set accordingly, and then add your ads.

The easiest way is to upload the package (zip file) thru SMF.
Go to: Admin>Packages>Download Packages
Scroll down to: 'Upload a Package' and click 'Browse...'
Find your file and click upload.

In 2.0 it should be found @   Admin>Configuration>Ad Management
If it's not there maybe this will shed some light? http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=230761.0

Will this work with SMF 2.0 RC1.2?  ???

Hi to all -

I must be as dumb as a box of hammers... but I did read a bunch of posts here, too...

1. I have a brand new install of 1.1.10 installed on a server with no changes or anything done to it yet.

2. I want to add the correct ad module so I can display my own ads/banners, not Google stuff.

3. I have no idea about the precise steps to do this, despite spending hours trying to find them anywhere written in a way an average pc guy with over a decade experience can understand them.

4. I have no idea which ad module of the four or five listed to DL... and there seems to be no explanation anywhere as to which link is for what...

5. I cannot access them through 'packages' section in my SMF software.

6. Once I could get the correct link/ad module DL'd, I have no idea how to get it onto the server, into the SMF software, and functioning properly.

7. When I clicked the 'get manual instructions pdf' or whatever that link said... it tells me that apparently the ad module is not compatible with my 1.1.10 version.

8. A few inches away from there, on the same web page, version 1.1.10 is listed as one of the compatible versions with the listed ad modules.

So either I must be as dumb as a sack of rocks... or I am just missing the obvious... but nevertheless I would sure love it if someone could please give me very specific, 3rd-grade-reader instructions on each and every precise step to take to go from where I am now -- stuck in the quicksand -- to then arrive at the finishing line where that correct ad module is installed on the server inside my SMF install and I can set up my own ads/banners to be placed on my various forum pages.

Please, someone help me.  I have lost a whole day now trying to get this right...

Thank you tons in advance -

Chip

Hi ChipT2009

the mod is compatible with 1.1.10. First download the mod to your pc then go the acp of your forum-packages and click on browse. Select the mod from your pc and install it. To install it on a 1.1.10 forum you must use the emulate version trick or change the version at package-info file inside the mod package, save the changes and zip up ahain the mod and install it.

Note that almost all mods will work with the default theem only. SO, if you have a custom theme, then manual instalaltion is required.

Hi -

Thank you for your amazing fast reply, but...

Some of what you just said is Mandarin Chinese to me...

1. Yes, I have the default theme and it is unchanged in any way...

2. I can DL whatever to my pc, but have no idea which of the available ad mod links to DL...

3. What is the 'acp' of my forum packages?

4. Which mod version do I select?

5. I have no idea what the 'emulate version trick'  is...

6. I have no idea what "or change the version at package-info file inside the mod package, save the changes and zip up ahain the mod and install it." means...

Thank you again -

Chip

Hello,
Im getting this in my error log. This mod has been uninstalled and deleted. I found this particular file in the Languages section (ads.english) and manually deleted t. Where is my edit on this one so that this error stops showing up?

Apply Filter: Only show the error messages of this URL http://www.doggeekz.com/index.php?action=viewErrorLog;desc

Unable to load the 'Ads.english' language file.

Thanks

Ive installed Ad Management and i have problem with theme footer. I'm using Outline theme. Whole problem is:

Quote
Firstly - i know that i should post this on theme authors forum - which i did, but unfortunately i can't get support there (nobody replied for almost 36h now) and i really need to fix this. :(

Well i have installed latest AD Management with SMF 2.0 RC1-1. I'm using Outline style (just the blue version of it). After installing mod, it kinda screwed my footer, it looks like this:

Ive set "display ads between posts (every 3)", it look ok on main page, topic page.

How to fix this? Please, help.

Firstly i thought it was a problem with theme, but after talking with support here it's obvious that'sa mod - coding problem. Could you help me please? Attached my index.template.

Anybody? Help would be appreciated.

Still waiting for some support it's been now 8 days since i wrote this. :(

Really....what's the point of writing the mod if you don't give support for it / update it / fix it. :/ Almost 2 weeks passed now, and i still can get answer / help to my problem here. Which for anybody would be at best a big disappointment.

The MOD might not have uninstalled properly if SMF is still trying to load that file. Try looking at what edits the mod makes to your files and then checking to verify that it removed all of the code when it was uninstalled.

Thanks!

I will go throught he whole manual un-install today.

Excuse me for I am fairly new but with other mods I just look up the version and parse it then manually install on custom themes. I have this working fine on my default and would like it to be on my other themes. Can you tell me where the edits are for adding this to custom themes. I am running 1.1.10

Thank you,
Scott

If at first you don't succeed. post and post again.

Hi,

How can I put ads inside the first post [box ad aligned right] just like this site - http://geopakistani.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36762 on my SMF forum?

Thanks

Paracelsus

I have 1.1.10 and it has been working fine for me.

Of course, since I don't use the default theme I had to manually edit the four templates affected by the MOD and I edited just the parts I needed to put the ads where I wanted them. In the end, I just can't get Display.template.php as supposed (to put ads between posts), probably because the post table structure is awfully different from the default theme one and I still haven't found a way to make it work.

But in general I would say it works very well with no error messages or problems whatsoever.

ScottDB

just wondering why when I try and get instructions for the manual instalation it says that it isn't compatable no mater what version I try to parse with.
Thank you,
Scott

You need to pick the correct version. Some versions are for 1.1.10 and some are for 2.0 RC.
