Puffin-10

I've just uninstalled SMF Media Gallery and installed Aeva Media 1.0.

I set permissions to allow Ordinary Members to "Add New Picture"

I discovered that this also allows them not only to delete their own picture(s) but pictures uploaded by other members within the same album!

Is there a way round this. probably something I've overlooked.

Many thanks

Steve Carey

Nao 尚

Did you give them "Moderate Own Albums" permission?
Just remove it and they won't be able to touch other users' items in their own albums.
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

. . . arrrh, I guess it was that simple but honestly just could not find what to change. So many items in the settings.

Many thanks

And Moderate Own Albums is *precisely* the only permission that I took the time to write a helpful description for... ;D
(Just hover the mouse over it...)

There seems to be a slight problem with my board after I upgraded to the latest version Beta 3. All youtube vids that were auto-embed in posts are appearing twice now. Here's a link to one of the topics in my forum: Link to the issue

How do I go about fixing that?

love your hs module, and users love it too obviously.

but the publishers aren't so happy, cause it doesn't increases the view count.

could you please tell me were is the piece of code that increases the count, and where should i shove it? (semantically speaking, of course  ;))

No I did not.

and that would be your problem.
By not uninstalling, you now have duplicate code....   you are going to have to go manually and remove the duplicate code from every file that was modified...

Yep. Changing the pattern link from https to just http and doing the same to the links will make aeva embed the link.
Hmm yeah, been looking into the code... It's not technically due to a bug in the sitelist, but rather a limitation in the embed code. Because Aeva looks for http:// link and when it can't find them, it stops looking. Problem is, I don't know of any other site that uses https:// exclusively for showing videos, so I can't really justify adding a test for https:// that will slow down all forums (even if very very little), just for a single site which isn't even in the official sitelist... :-/

I don't see any easy solution to this.

Hmm... I'm afraid I don't have any problems with it.
I'll need FTP access to your site so I can fix it. :(
Could you please provide the names of file(s) I'd have to edit to fix this?

Nao 尚

@gamerzworld> There's no predefinite fix... I need FTP access to debug it, that's all.

@Kindred> You still find time to support mods? You're crazy ;) You should leave me this entire board, I can manage don't worry.

@Trafalgar> Can you explain, for my psychological studies, why you still double-installed, even though the "Install" button has a text right above it that says in bold that you should uninstall all previous versions? Do you expect everyone to take you by the hand? Anyway, read it again to find out my position on this.... ::)

@aishaweb> Videos can either be the default size, or the maximum size allowed by your forum. You can override that maximum size. I don't remember the variable name but try a search on 'override' here, eh.

@saks> As I said, it works for me... FTP access or nothing I guess. (And even with FTP access, I need to find time to work on it, bearing in mind that it's probably not even my fault...)

There is no "piece of code that increases the count". I mean, there is, but it's much harder than you think to change it. I had to think of many cases... For instance, if one goes to an item page and loads the preview, count+1. Then clicks it to get the fullsize view... Count+1? Surely not. But what if you're viewing the item from a forum post with the smg tag... What if that post shows the item as fullsize directly? Count+1? Yes. You can imagine it gets complicated after a while... Hopefully I managed to make it manageable. I'm pretty happy with the current SVN.

Anyway -- I fixed this a few days ago (mentioned it on smf-media.com). This will be in Beta 4. (Which is not yet released, but you can download the latest SVN if you want to test it. Don't forget to recompress it to zip before installing.)

Ah, yes, I forgot I still need to mark the picture as Seen if the counter is increased... I always forget about doing this.

My bad, a stupid typo... ($last_group was originally named $any_group, until I added the $first_group variable and needed to harmonize names... Forgot to update these lines.)

Just open Aeva-Gallery2.php and replace all 3 occurrences of $any_group with $last_group
This should do it.

I actually just tried out this mod because the old youtube mod doesn't work.

Sorry, but I don't want to use it, I don't like the way it works, I just want a standalone BBcode mod, I've uninstalled this.

Nao, do you know what the problem is with the old yt mod? I'm using RC2. Even when I make the code and filename changes you posted. Just says 'test unsuccessful on Add Before ./Sources/Subs-Editor.php.

Install the old version, it works much the same as the old YT mod but you just post the link to the vid and thats it.

mogster

Does it work with the old [youtube] tags? I don't want any of the gallery-linked ID stuff, at least with the old youtube ID tags you can work out the youtube link without the mod, the new tags are utterly useless without the mod.

edit: *sigh*. No it doesn't. I quite like this version of the mod though, how it changes youtube links to embedded players, can I install this along side the old mod? Also, Nao, I know you worked hard on this, but you should keep the gallery-less version updated for the people that -don't- want the extra features :/

Also my subs-editor.php is attached if you can work out why it won't work with the old mod. That, or a way to convert the [youtube] and [youtube=xxx, xxx] to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=

Puffin-10

Most odd. For regular members I've unchecked "Moderate Own Albums" in permissions for Aeva and Delete still appears. The only way to make it go away is to un-check "Moderate Gallery" and then they can't "Add an item to this album" ! I'm a little puzzled

Nao 尚

mogster, what's the problem with Aeva Media? If you don't like the gallery, you just don't enable it... (It needs to be enabled before your users can see it. So if you don't do anything, it'll just behave like Aeva 7.)
As for the auto-embedder, you need to enable it, too. Admin > Aeva Media > Auto-embedder > Enable.
Then go to the site list and check the sites you want to add support for.

There's a script included in the package that allows you to automatically remove the youtube bbcodes from all your posts if you want to save some space in the database.

Also, I have yet to decide whether or not I'll keep updating Aeva 7. Basically, I don't have plans to update the auto-embedder as long as YouTube support is not broken (it's really the only site I want to have 100% support for. Most people, too.)
Aeva Media's auto-embedder will possibly add permission features in the future.

Err... Moderate Gallery will give them many, many powers you don't want to give them.
There's an "Add Album" permission, too... Lol. You need to check that.

Did you read the permission list at all...?
