SMF seems to have the attitude..we are the forum..got nothing to do with mods or themes. They dont realise..it's the mods+themes+forum+support which leads to marketability. Just the forum is of not much use to many people. It's the whole framework.

vBulletin is not that great have similar issues with management/development.

I have checked out nearly all forum software and found SMF the best for development for me.

Mods do come and go. I do a lot free mods but also have paid ones that have a lot of code/features behind them.
Personally I have bought mods from coders who were leaving SMF. Picked up the ad management mod for that reason so the community still has the mod even though it cost me $2000 and I had my own paid ad mod. Still thought it would be best for the community to have the mods as an option

Perhaps, that's why, due to size not many realized the complexity of it, which mod was this if you don't mind telling ?

You can go into the properties of a folder and upload an image to make it the folder icon.

You can go into the properties of an image (in the folder) and click a chekbox to make it the default image of the the parent folder.

O, ok , for that mod the demand for it i can imagine is not that great as for the demand of the AM mod ... another thing to look at, AM offers something that would be virtually impossible for the regular user to hard-code into SMF, so using the mod is a must, so a mod like that can always generate funds from being a paid mod...

another example the AD management mod, another powerful mod, but as you know alternatives can be hard-coded into SMF quite easily, so the demand for it wont be as great if it were a paid mod, hence why people will always want those kind of modz for free

How to make picture/video or album limited to "Buddies Only" ?

I'm planning on improving the Favourite Board mod and maybe make a paid version(and current one as lite) of it with new features... Like permissions and stuff like that.

Duke, as I said: Not helping.   what you asked for *IS* (and has always BEEN) available. SO, your comments about the media gallery are really rather childish.

I have responded to Nao's PM and hopefully we can come to some sort of understanding. I understand why Nao reacted as he did (and Pegasys... If you are reading this, I am placing YOU on warning status as well) and I understand why Nao was set to a warning level, even if I did not completely agree with the level. Nao, those of us who frequent your posts know and (mostly) understand your temper and frustration levels. Please realize that some people who get the reports do not always get the full context.

aw06: No, I am quite happy that this never went paid. I would not be using it myself if it did...   
and honestly, even if it did go paid, that does not prevent the author from dropping it.

Royalduke: I'd really prefer you didn't make a paid version of what was my mod originally but I can't stop you.


Oh, and one of the conditions karlbenson gave aevac (what would later become Aeva) was that he couldn't make it paid.

There are many forums out there that 'must' have a feature rich media gallery, then you have forums that think they need a feature rich gallery... many people have it now because it's free, but if it were paid i'm sure that number would drop, but as a developer at-least it gives you more time to better respond and give support to people who in-fact paid for it.

Look at the amount of VB forums, Don't you think if SMF were paid it would have a good following as well ?

@Arantor: I will be adding new features and do some major changes, so it's not just gonna be a mod with some "minor features" I'm planning on a package of mods for major forums. If you really don't want to see your mod improved then I won't make it a paid solution.

Kindred if you are talking about my comment about SNF Media, my bad... Changed. I do like SMF Media but only thought it was wrapped with Aeva.

The best way to go imho, is to integrate your SMF forum with Joomla.  Joomla has much bigger community and has paid mods if you want them.

Your site will not be hijacked by mod authors coming and going and you have two stable environments, joomla and smf. The paid mods dont cost a lot.

First I would like to mention you that to install AVEA I uninstalled SMG without any issue, later on I installed AVEA without any issue but the result cause above mentioned error.

But as you have mentioned that you  have doubt that SMG is installed and so I manually checked all editing mentioned in this MOD File pers screen but believe me no any edit were found in any file that could be undo so I supposed SMG was uninstalled without any issue.

Then after I also uninstalled AVEA which was showing a test failure error.

then I repeated the same procedure of undo editing within mentioned files (in MOD'S Perse screen) but again no any edit were found in mentioned files. it means AVEA is successfully uninstalled.

Then I reinstalled AVEA which executed without any error.
Now problem is that if I refresh my forum via F5 I got no any error but after second refresh attempt it cause same error mentioned in my first post.

When I try to create new member groups , the add group button or if I click any of the checkboxes to select the permissions , it takes me to the image gallery.   I have avea media gallery installed.  I Tried uninstalling it and it still takes me to there or the homepage.   

Any Suggestions.

Baloch: another route is possible (as alternative to verifying manually files). Please install this mod: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2054 and check the box in Admin interface, to "disable eval". Then, please do refresh the view on your forum as you described above, until you get the error. This time the error should be slightly different. Post that new error here, for us to see.
(it should list the file which has a problem)
