Mick.

Arantor,

My hosts has this too.  Before posting a support topic, you're redirected to a FAQ page.

BlueDevil: One of the features we have in SimpleDesk is the ability directly from SD's ACP to create a support topic in the forum, including SMF and SD version.

I think it should include the ability to do some kind of search on the forum *before* it'll let you post.

I think this mod should become a full paid mod, well at-least the full version with all the bells and whistles, for a free mod it's just too much so crazy amount of support will be needed, and we know how that goes, IMO the mod is just too feature Rich, it should be broken up into smaller mods..

Just have a free water down version without all features... then have the full blown paid mod, a few other mods are like that if i recall ..

Or make it 100% free, and have a paid support service for the people that need quick 1 on 1 support

aw06: True enough, but given that 1.0 has all these features can you imagine the amount of people who'll stick with that or complain when the next version doesn't?

The mod is already 100% free (Foxy is an add-on that most people don't want to pay for even if they say they want the features).

There isn't a good solution because the core software is free and people expect (and subsequently DEMAND) free mods and free support. It's why I won't do paid mods for SMF now, but I will consider paid mods for other platforms.

OK fair enough, Well all the best to the mod and the creators 8) I hope one day i will be brave enough to take the plunge and give it a spin ::)

You can always have a free mod and a paid mod with a few extra features. The paid mod gives you probably a few dollars in your pocket and it also gives some forum owners confidence. To run a professional, profitable forum ..the owners need some stability with the software and mods and these ppl do turn to paid modules.

Sad to hear about Aeva..hopefully someone might keep it running. It's a great mod and thanks to Nao for all his hard work. We might have to get donations and keep the development going somehow.

Free things rock :-) Hope members understand this and request a solution..appreciate the help...not demand it and get mod writers all worked up.

All sorted now, the install went fine but when I manually checked trough the relevant files for the changes, the index.template had not been changed from SMF Gallery to AEVA, don't know why but at least it's fixed.

Thanks to all who helped.

You seem to have Aeva still installed, judging after your list of mods.

Please consider again the advice above: do try uninstalling it,
I tried but un-installation test showed following error

6.     Execute Modification     ./Themes/default/languages/Modifications.english.php     Test failed

Norv

If this is the only failed test, I don't think there should be problems. But, to fix it: if it's the only error, you can continue with uninstallation from Package Manager.
Then, once it's finished, please take a look at the mod's page (Aeva page on http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=977), choose your version of SMF and click 'parse'. Search in the page for the edits in the file /Themes/default/languages/Modifications.english.php, and download the file and try to edit it manually to undo the Aeva changes in it. Re-upload your modified file on your server.

If this is not the only failed test, you need to do the same with the other files tests fail on...
To-do lists are for deferral. The more things you write down the later they're done... until you have 100s of lists of things you don't do.

I hear ya calvinhobbes, but once upon a time I offered to write a mod that I'd have charged $25 for, for thousands of lines of code, and I got demands and abuse for even that.

I doubt Nao will stop development of it, I just don't think he'll be back here to support it - for now at least.

LOL. My predictions come true.

Hi!  @all,

we are trying to upgrade 1.1.4, with SMF Gallery lite, on Server "A"  to 2.0RC2, with Aeva, on Server "B".
The Problem:     the convert-program produce several Errors. such as:

Hey weightman, glad to see you again. How good does it feel to be right?

SMGTeam

How amusing to see the above neo-nazi keep roaming the SMF boards under a new name, when I'm being banned just for using the F word...

Of course, SMF is all about image, not about substance, we all know that by now.

That's one of the reasons I'm leaving the community. The other reasons, I explained to Norv and Kindred by PM. I've given them permission to reproduce bits of my PMs if needed.

And yes, I'm stopping development on Aeva Media for SMF, and I won't allow anyone to take it over. I have no reason to keep maintaining or supporting a mod for this doomed project full of people who have nothing but disdain for enthusiastic, original thinkers, and don't hesitate on perm-banning them just for posting a word that offends a few puritan Americans. Oh, I'm so, so sad for them and their little brain that can't even bear reading a word like fuck. Giving power to THESE people is usually NOT a good sign per se.

So, for lack of a better word: SEE YOU ON ANOTHER, BETTER, PLANET.

There is certainly a lot of satisfaction in being able to predict the future. However, I always ofter solutions and then sit by helplessly while people ignore them and march to failure, which is somewhat frustrating. No, I am not a nihilist and get no pleasure from destruction. However, in this case, this is justice. And, its also quite amusing.

This seems like a great mod.  I'm just now fiddling around with it after install on 2.0.

I would make a couple suggestions:

1.  It'd be wonderful if instead of a file folder (or such), the graphic going with an album would be a thumbnail of one of the photos in the album (letting admin if public or the album owner choose which photo to use for the thumbnail).

2.  And to make it killer?  If it had a row of 5 or so random or new albums on the maing page of the forum itself, truly integrating the gallery with the forum.

Just my 2 cents.

Thank you very much for the mod.
