I've been reading about he AEVAC_v3.1.2 and it seems it was a person Karlbenson.. but this new AEVA media es some sort of Hulk version of AEVAC_v3.1.2, I found the old link to the mod but is not available anymore...

I have this problem, I installed AEVA 1.1b and it worked Beatifull... I noticed an issue that some youtube links were getting converted to urls, and some of them were getting embedded twice...

I started to search in my packages and notices this OLD OLD OLD..package so I figured I'm gonna uninstall it..

bam.. When I refresh my website it's all Blank.... I have all my users on the MSN.. What is wrong with the forum..

When I uninstalled it modified
1.     Execute Modification     .\Sources/Load.php     Test successful
2.    Execute Modification    .\Sources/Post.php    Test failed
3.    Execute Modification    .\Sources/Subs.php    Test failed

These 3 files... What can cause the forum to go blank on these files..

Is it related to AEVAC_v3.1.2.?, to aeva media 1.1b... or it's something else...

Can I get some help please.. If I need to post something from my files..I'll do it right away..

Thanks, Thanks, Thanks..

Look on the Mod Parser in manually remove the edits from the files that failed. It will show you exactly what was done, all you need to do is undo them  ;)

Thanks for your reply, The problem is that this mod does not appear on the mod website to see the modifications...
If you/someone can point me to where I can find the code in the AEVAC_v3.1.2.zip mod... Would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks again...

I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

Aeva Media rocks your life.

MATTEK

I'm having a weird issue.

Regular members and mods can not add pictures to their albums unless I give them Aeva Admin permissions.

Wait a minute...Nao...you're not supporting this mod on either site?  I just joined your site for nothing?  By the way...your site's extremely slow & your switch things to English button only works on a couple of things...boards not included.  It took me a few minutes just to figure out where to post.

Could somebody please note this don't work & it's not supported so people will quit wasting their time with it.

Thank you.

Arantor

@DawnsWebDesigns

It works fine out of the box on 1.1.11, which means it breaks due to another mod you have.

And no mods install on custom themes unless they've been specifically prepared to do so (which most haven't).

Nao is only taking a break from supporting on noisen.com because being the #1 mod on SMF and the *only* person behind it, he needs time off occasionally.
Holder of controversial views, all of which my own.

This mod works great on our forum which is loaded with smf 1.1.11 (we have over 1/2 a million posts) and I have a test forum where I have it working with smf 2 RC3 on my custom theme. It's features get so many thumbs up from our users.

Nao is pretty responsive to bug reports and general questioning. Whether or not people like the way he responds is obviously another matter. Frankly I think users are best off having thick skin for the most part. Nao is a good guy and has gone over the expectations which I had for him in order to help me in the past by logging onto my server and assisting me. He might get bad press once in a while but from what I can tell it's usually from people who have thick skin... and or have other issues which they are not able to technically resolve and that they try to blame on his mod or him. To be honest I have only found one transient bug and have found the features a great addition to SMF.

MATTEK

I have it working with RC3, but again, users can only add images to their albums if they have Admin permissions for the mod. This is bad because it permits them to edit other people's albums.

Here are the errors I got when I checked for errors with the Aeva error checking tool. I don't know what it means exactly. Hoping someone can help.

QuoteThe following errors were discovered when searching for errors

    * The DB entry of file #8, used with item #1, is missing.
    * The DB entry of thumbnail #9, used with item #1, is missing.
    * The album #4, associated with the item 1, is missing.
    * The DB entry of file #12, used with item #2, is missing.
    * The DB entry of thumbnail #13, used with item #2, is missing.
    * The album #5, associated with the item 2, is missing.

EDIT: I've fixed my issue!

Not 100% but I don't believe this mod needs to install on any custom themes as there are no edits to the index.template.php or BoardInex.template.php files. Hence you won't see an "install on additional themes" option.

Once again, not 100% but I think that's the case w/ this Mod.

I looked and did not see any mods to index.template.php or BoardInex.template.php.

Aeva did install cleaner the second time, though there were 91 general errors which I will need to look into.

thanks,  :)

mrtrc266, you're absolutely right. I see AeMe has no edits in template files in fact. (so yes, that's why it's missing the poor link).
My apologies, Lou, I shouldn't have taken for granted that since you're using a custom theme then probably that's the reason it wasn't working from the start. It seems it is not. It should work just fine with your theme from the start.

Then (since if I understand correctly your forum is using English, too, please correct me if not), it seems the problem may be some odd reason why the some of the mod's own edits weren't done... Could be a permission issue, it might be useful (potential relevant for other mods installs), but possibly time consuming, to look into it. In order to look into it, you may need to check the SMF files on FTP and try to make them writable. What exactly that means however, depends on your host's server configuration. (on some hosts 666 is necessary for files, on other 644 or 664). There's also in SMF's Admin a way to make files writable (which may succeed, or fail, depending on your host configuration again).
You will probably want rather to choose at this point to go ahead and add the missing information in the respective files as mod parsing shows. Are there many such missing edits?

Norv,

It is all good so no problem and no need for apology. Believe me, I do appreciate you help!  :)

I did install a second time Aeva on top of the custom theme. It did install much cleaner as the pervious issues with a color bar being in the wrong place has corrected itself. There are though, 91 general errors but, Aeva seems to work fine.

I am going to place the missing data into the two files that they are missing from. I will then look at the errors and determine what they are about. I will also look at the server file permissions.

This is my first attempt at a web site and while it has been challenging, it has also been very rewarding. My thanks to all that have helped me.

Best regards,

Lou   :)

Or maybe it's a conflict with another mod in the lang file..?

Hi,

The only mods I have installed are Avea and some avatar and smiley face mods. The theme is the RGBB Curve from Crip. This has been a very good learning experience for me so, to learn more, I may just uninstall all the mods and start over.  :)

Knowledge is a wonderful thing.   ;D

agonz010

Kindred.
i still have the problem with the menu of aeva, dosent appear, you say the other day that the problem is the lenguaje.... what i have to do?? to change the language?

Lou69

Norv,

You are a genius! I have been installing and observing files and the such and it seems that there are some file permissions errors. Most noteably dealing with the mgal* directories.

I did go back to the SMF default theme and Aeva does install without errors, however when setting up albums it is not able to write to the mgal* directories. The complaint is that directories should be 777 or 755.

I do not understand much about such permissions ( but I will learn ) and I must ask which is the more preferred permission for me to use? The server is an Apache server and my SMf is RC3. I have use my CP disk manager to change permission but that is not working.   :-[

I have spoken with my host before about chmod issues and he asserts that the problem lies with SMF. I do not know where the problem is but, I will need to have a permanent work around ( ftp perhaps ) or go to another host when my contract expires.

best reagards,

Lou

:)

Norv

The thing is not "who's fault is"... (mostly)
The thing is, you may need to chmod the files and folders so they're writable for PHP. And the problem is, writable for PHP means something different on different servers, it depends on your host's server configuration.
On some hosts servers, folders need to be 755, and if that doesn't work, then 775, and if not, 777. Most likely nothing else. (there are exceptions). In the same time, files most likely should be 644 or 664, or respectively 666.

It's a high chance, unfortunately (unfortunately for security and usability), that you may need 777 for folders and 666 for files.
Your host should know.
If they don't tell... trial and error may be also an option.

Note: If you used your cpanel file manager to change permissions (on some folder made by the mod?), and it's not working... that *could* mean that those files/folders are not owned your user, instead they may be owned by the default Apache user. If that is the case, only your host can change the owner of the files, making them owned by your user, so you *can* change their permissions next time you try.
To-do lists are for deferral. The more things you write down the later they're done... until you have 100s of lists of things you don't do.
