Update on the project:

I have implemented new code changes on the project site for the new account system. In order to fully test this out, I have also re-enabled registrations in G2, so people can test registering seperately in SMF and G2, then linking the accounts together. If all goes well, I should have a 1.0.5 version ready for beta testing soon. :)

gerry... in theory, not only should this work with TinyPortal (which, after all is still a superset of SMF) but with the php block ability in Tiny portal, you'll be able to run the "image block" function from gallery2..

Sorry Kindred. It doesnt like being set up as reccommended as on Oldiesman's site. I installed G2 along with TP0.7.4 and SMF1.1B3 and the copyright from SMF vanished leaving the whole site a mess. Uninstalled G2 and restored from backups and all is well. There is a clash there somewhere.
SMF RC1, Tiny Portal 0.75, Coppermine 1.3.3, Flashchat.

I'll play with it during the week...

What exactly are you doing? Currently there is no integration for G2 and SMF 1.1. I'm almost done with the one for 1.0.5, and will start on one for 1.1 RC1 soon. The integration will add an image block function to SSI.php, which will make displaying images in various places much easier.

Another update: For those of you who are interested in beta testing, please register at http://smf.oldiesmann.us/galleryproject/index.php (if you haven't already done so) and post in the "Testing requests" topic. That way it will be much easier for me to keep track of who wants to do the beta testing.

I will gladly beta test on 1.1 RC1 and future versions if needed

I set it up to see how it works as a standalone gallery. But to make integration possible later, I followed your site info and set it up using the same datbase, with the G2 directory in the same directory as index.php. That crashed the site. The TP/SMF parts of the site worked perfectly, once the G" install was complete the site lost the SMF copyright and most graphics. Deleted all the G" stuff, and copied inex.php back to the default theme and the site works perfectly again. Let me get my test board back on to the same versions, andf I'll do it again there so you can have a look.

I have no clue why installing G2 would break SMF. I've done it several times and have never had any problems - simply uploaded the tar.gz file to the appropriate directory, logged into the shell, cd'd to that directory then did tar -xzvf on that archive and deleted the archive once it was done installing.

I'm interested in beta testing your software, but it appears that your host is pretty unreliable.  I was able to get on a couple days ago to browse around a bit, but since that time I keep getting a 'Host not Found' error. :(

Amen.

I have not yet had time to work on the 1.1 version of this integration. Hopefully I'll have time to do this in the next few weeks.

Am sure others have a look at this thread to see progress- I check it every day (sometimes twice  :P )

Sorry for not responding sooner. The 1.0.5 version of the integration is pretty much done. I am going to be working on the 1.1 version soon (as soon as I have more time to do so). Once the 1.1 version has been made, I will start beta testing.

Also, once beta testing starts I will work on a "random photo" block function for SSI.php.

Claudek

Sounds kewl. Thanks for the update.

Another update:

I will start beta testing for 1.0.5 sometime in the next few days. I have decided to skip 1.1RC1 and make the first 1.1 version compatible with RC2 instead, because RC2 has an additional integration hook for updating user info (which will greatly reduce the number of changes that have to be made to SMF). I will start working on that after I start beta testing for 1.0.5.
