Bit unfair for those of us without the financial means to continue.

Life is unfair.  Hell, you could stand on a street corner and beg for that much money in a couple of hours.

It's as if you're suggesting it's only fair if someone gives it to you.  So go beg for it.

"glad" to see that this nice mod became paid under free smf forum.

maybe better for you just code your own forum and put it as addon for your "awesome" mod which still doesn't like utf-8.

anyway i don't like such decisions.

hope someone will code free gallery mod without million of unnecessary code and tonns of unused features.

tfs : That's a bit strong and not, I should think, in the spirit of this forum. Brack1 was expressing his worries same as any member is entitled without attacking anyone.

Tair : 1.3a is still free.

I merely suggested that begging would get the cash faster than doing nothing.  Trying to lay guilt trips on people only makes them want to escape.  I'd much rather pay Nao for good software than chase him away.

@BYU> Writing specific features takes time, I wouldn't do it for $20 ;) What you're asking for is an external embedding system that would, for instance, allow users to embed in their forums a video from another SMF forum. To do that, I would have to make sure that AeMe can automatically embed these URLs, because, well, that would be a downer otherwise. So, it would need to be able to recognize the URL. But, what with PrettyURLs and everything, I can't "be sure" the URL would be in the ?action=media;sa=... form. It doesn't sound too perfect to me (silly me, I know.) I don't know, I guess I would have to see if others ask for such a feature, but as of now I only got one such request, long ago, and when I refused, I got insulted. (Which sure isn't the best way to convince me.)

@BYU²> I don't really understand what you mean. 'Converted'?

I apologize if my post didn't seem clear.

No, I'm not asking that I can embed from one SMF forum to another SMF forum. What I'm asking for is simply that there is a field displayed below the video that gives the literal URL of the video on the server. You don't have to worry about if it will load or embed or anything. Just give the user the URL. The "direct link" field you have now is perfect for embedding within the forum, but I want to embed OUT of the forum. Don't worry about any "pretty URL" conversions or anything just the EXACT URL to where it is on the server.

My reason for asking for this feature is that I use Moodle for my students to do homework, assignments, quizzes, etc. Moodle does not have any kind of organized gallery for videos. However, you can embed videos by simply inserting the direct URL. Give me the URL and I'm happy.

By "converted" I mean that I uploaded a file named (for example) "video.flv" Aeva Media will save it on my server as "video__flvfa31c26e71f327eb5b9aa083abf10b87_extflv".

This, obviously is unusable by any video player outside of Aeva Media.

So, displaying a direct URL link in useable form (example - http://www.mywebsite.com/mgal/album/myvideo.flv) would be great!

vB isn't free either. Get a life.  ::)

There might be some other nonsense in its place, but not that exact nonsense. If all of science were wiped out, it would still be true and someone would find a way to figure it all out again."

Nao; I know it's kind of useless to offer suggestions at this point. BUT :-)

It would be nice if there was a simple "switch" to be able to turn the ratings system off/on and same for the comment system. Not just in the permissions.

Since the media forum is not taking registrations, could someone please ask the developer to either learn math or add a way to turn off the rating system. The weighted average is NOT what people are used to seeing,
And the "regular" average is not a value that can be trusted. Do you REALLY want to see a new item at the top of your Popularity list, just because its author gave it a 5/5? It first has to be weighted against the average number of ratings given on your boards.
I spent several days making sure the system is working nicely. Because, guess what, I use it!
Just like all members of iMDb.com happily use it. Yes, they use weighted averages, too. It's even the place where I first heard about it.

QuoteI know they're trying to pass it off as 'weighted average' but it's just stupid.
You too.

I don't think your problem isn't solved. That's obviously a case of double-install.

Is there a way to embed a video in the description for a category? I would like the video player to be visible on the home page.

Thanks

strange how it went after ticking/unticking a box.  How can it be a double install if the mod is uninstalled before upgrading, then installed again?  :D

Nao 尚

Maybe you forgot to do it once.

Or double clicked when installing?

I would like to know if there is a way to put like random pics on your forumhome say like in the footer

Off the top of my head the best way I can think of is by using a block from a portal mod such as Simple Portal.
