Thanks Nao ...  I do see the issue.  It just behaves differntly when I click Media vs clicking Album so I was wanting to compare the queries on one vs the other.

When I go here
forum/index.php?action=media

it is says "No Items"

When I go here (click on the album jump)
index.php?action=media;sa=vua

it shows me the the proper count of all the pic in the child albums

Then it shows the proper count of items at the parent level and sorts the Parent (top most level albums)

So I was trying to compare what you are doing by comparing those two.  Which programs are they for each of these URLs?

Perhaps I should just find the language file and change the text there to something like "Please See the child Albums"

The albums that are in the homepage are featured albums. The way they are sorted & handled *ON THE HOMEPAGE ONLY* is completely different from other albums. Basically, if you have sub-albums and they're featured too, they'll appear on the homepage as sub-albums of that album. And logically, I think they should show the number of items they have (not sure.)
If your sub-albums aren't featured, they just won't show up, and the homepage will simply show the empty album and "0 items". It's a pity, I recognize, and should probably be rethought... :-/
Honestly, album counts have been giving me nightmares over the past year. It's only very recently that I fixed several long standing bugs in the approval department when it came to creating albums. Agony.
Additionally, you can also set the album as not featured, and all its sub-albums as featured. They will show the correct number of items, but they'll also be in top position, so you'd better not have a lot of sub-albums ;)
I will not make any deals with you. I've resigned. I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.

Thanks for the deeper understanding about the counts.  That really helps and I will try and few different settings.  It was not clear to me what featured really did.  Not clear to me what Unseen does either.......but I am a newbie

This is a great Gallery....  your hard work is much appreciate.....

;D ;D ;D

Mack450

Unseen does exactly the same as SMF's Unread Posts link, but for gallery items ;)

...

Adding custom sites: read the contents of Aeva-Sites-Custom-Example.php
Asking me to add sites: read the README section in the Aeva Media admin area. (That's the 'FAQ'.)

An interesting beta for interested people!

If you are:
- a user of SMF2 RC2
- a lover of rounded corners everywhere
- an album collector
- a silly admin who's been having problems with the "0777" error for some time (but not always)

You should install this update. Because:
- it fixes rounded corners for RC2
- it adds rounded corners on album lists
- it adds alternating backgrounds on album lists (which is good for clarity when you have lots of them)
- and it adds an error message for admins when they click the Media tab... Which pretty much hints at how to fix their problem ;)

Attached! (This is neither beta 4 nor beta 5. Consider it beta 4.1.)
I'm not planning to release more updates this weekend, so if it's buggy, please wait until Monday for a fix. I don't think it'll be buggy, though. :)

Thank-you for this wonderful mod, it's utterly staggering, and its brilliance and simplicity to install is just marvelous.

Nao 尚

Good thing to know :) I guess I can release "beta 5" tomorrow then.

Xuantia, lol! It's a welcome change, compared to posts like these ;)

I lol'ed. Two words for that guy: Ignorant Bastard.

Anyway, is there a chance that this will ever be compatible with Xfire videos?

Thank you Nao, all issues resolved...hopefully. BTW...nice message on the album part.  :P

Update: How to hide the item info expect for comment?

Hey thanks, that would be cool to save me the edits on uninstall and reinstall. Looking forward to seeing whats up with the new version. Thanks.
Although at first you seemed to 'well understand' that you were being prevented from using Aeva... Now you're using Aeva Media. (The post above confirms it.)
The license terms haven't changed (they were automatically transmitted from Aeva to Aeva Media starting from the very first public alpha) -- it is NOT to be used on a website that spreads bigot ideas and speeches. Anything to add..?

You can still use AEVAC or SMG which don't have these license terms, but none of the mods I have a majority ownership in.
I'm not entering another flame war with you so I hope you'll behave the way you should.

(I'm still unsure whether it's wise to have so many topics in here. The more topics there are, the harder it will be for the SMF team to merge them back into a single topic later... It'll just make it unreadable.)

Well, it was nothing really... An easy fix: just uninstalled Aeva Media, logged into FTP, deleted all corrupted files, and reinstalled.

The main point is that I learned something important today: the "0777/0755" error message is not ALWAYS due to file permissions. Sometimes it's human error on the admin's side (not following my instructions on SVN revision installs), or even a bug in SMF (in your case).

I actually updated the official SVN page to reflect this and give warnings to users who would install latest revs. Probably took me longer to write the warning than to fix the bug, eheh.
