SMF Media Gallery (SMG) - 2.0.5 is out! (December 2)

Got a strange error here. When I try to up a file I get this:

Error, file not found! (/home/cofexm/public_html/SMF2Test/mgal_data/albums/First_test_album/Dir_1/7_beerwench_jpg4a9b6affbc2a58e87d301724372773a9_extjpg)

File is way under the size limit. Path to mgal_data is correct. Permission on First_test_album/Dir_1 is 755 (which is what the mod created it as). All folders above that are 777.

All files and folder under mgal_data including itself should be 777. So the directory structure looks good?

Well that would be the problem then. The script creates the album Dir_1 folder as 755. If you need it to be 777 it would be better to code the script so it created the folder as 777. That way you don't have to go and reset the permissions before you can use the thing.

Now I'm going to have to run a custom script every time I want to create a new album, because my server has php running as a module and it sets the new album folders to the nobody user at 755, which means I can't do a thing with them unless I write a custom script and load that to root before running it to force a change of permissions. Bit of a bugger innit.

AFAIK it creates them as 777...It might be your server restricting it.

For these features... I'd say around half a day of work... If everything goes well, uh uh. My daily rates are $200. So I'll say $100 and it's fair enough. That's the equivalent of 2 copies of SMF Gallery Pro, right? Just get some people to split it with you.

Now please just tell me if your friends agree on my suggestions. I've thought about it overnight and I still think it's the best implementation I could come up with.

I'll try to start work on it today. I have to finish implementing an Ajax icon list for board privacies on noisen, and if I have some time left, I'll work on improving the smg tag to accept full albums (or id lists), for starters.
I don't know yet the extent of what I'll do, and I don't know if it'll be offered in the package, or as a fair-priced plugin. Fact is, the whole thing is colliding with the existing plugin I'm working on (media playlists), tentatively called "Foxy mod" because the goal is to emulate my Foxprog music discovery blog When I say "fair priced", I mean "not $5, but not $20 either".
So maybe both features (playlists & notifications) will end up in the same plugin. I'll be asking for Dragooon's opinion on this.

PS: as you can see, I prefer to talk money in the open. I don't much like hiding stuff like that from the public. I'm not comfortable with asking for any money so it's probably a way for me to look for users' understanding before I start doing it

Yeah I agree with that as well so we all know where we stand on this. The only thing that worries me what if we get no other takers on the feature

$100 -> the feature is for you to use. I may include part of it in SMG for free, and use part of the rest for my Foxy mod.
No bucks -> the feature will be entirely included in the the Foxy mod, which you'll be free to buy.

I figured I'd do this if no one else's interested in helping with the $100.

Ok just so I understand fully the Foxy mod will then just be a plug-in for (SMG) costing US $20. This plug-in will include the features I am requesting. If so I will have one please

Just a few other issues. I am using SMF Gallery Pro right now and I know you have a converter for this. However when I did try it out quite some time back (on my test site) I hit some type of error (for the life of me I cannot remember what it was now). At the time we did speak and you said it was easy to fix but I never really worried about it at the time as I was only a test as the feature I needed was not in your version (The one we are discussing now). So I assume we would be able to convert with no problems

I'll start work on it this weekend at the latest, though. I just finished my other project of the week (implementing boards hidden to anyone else that isn't in the board owner's friends list.)

I don't remember your converter problem, all I can say is: converting your SGP won't break it. SMG doesn't touch SGP at all. You can have both galleries up and running alongside.

Well if we can drum up a bit of support maybe we can still look at the original offer, I sure would like that If I install this gallery I will drop SGP at the same time
